Predicted Wrexham lineup vs QPR: Nathan Broadhead returns?

Predicted Wrexham lineup

Predicted Wrexham lineup vs QPR for the 29th Championship matchday. Will Nathan Broadhead return to the starting lineup after getting rested against Leicester City?

Starting from today, Wrexham begins a stretch of promotion pushing matches in the Championship. Showdowns against the likes of QPR, Millwall and Ipswich Town are playoff 6-pointers for Wrexham.

Plus, facing a relatively easy Sheffield Wednesday team in between can allow Phil Parkinson’s men to rest and rotate well without dropping plenty of points. Talking about today’s opponents QPR, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has already sounded out the Rs consistent history in the second-tier.

QPR 2025/26 Championship season so far

In the 2025/26 season, QPR has been dealt many setbacks like a 7-1 Coventry City thrashing and a hat-trick of league defeats during November. Inspite of that, the Londoners have kept their grip on the top-6 spots and the reward for tonight’s win is as invaluable to them as it is for Wrexham’s visiting crew.

No doubt, QPR will come out all guns blazing with talented players like Rumarn Burrell and Jimmy Dunne being their standouts this season. The Rs new £4.5m man Ronnie Edwards can also be a starting fixture tonight who previously infuriated Phil Parkinson and every Wrexham fan when Edwards wasn’t sent off in the opening night’s 2-1 defeat to Southampton.

Well, how can Wrexham lineup then? That said, below is the predicted Wrexham lineup Phil Parkinson can deploy to seal a Championship win in West London.

Predicted Wrexham lineup vs QPR

GK: Arthur Okonkwo

Okonkwo had a terrible Championship debut this season when he conceded 3 times against QPR. The first one was a comical own goal, the second came due to his poor reflexes on the near post.

On the third, Okonkwo was caught up in minds whether to rush forward on a 1v1 or stay behind. Tonight, the 24 year old keeper is expected to leverage his improving form and do well.

CB: Callum Doyle

Doyle had a hard time marking Burrell last time out. Here, he must prioritise staying at centre-back and winning his individual duels against Burrell instead of advancing forward.

CB: Dominic Hyam

Wrexham fans lost count of how many times Conor Coady was badly positioned in the reverse QPR fixture. Today, Dominic Hyam will be present at the heart of the defence and will be expected to help Wrexham maintain a decent defensive shape.

CB: Max Cleworth

Max Cleworth’s biggest task will be to deal with Richard Kone’s physicality. QPR’s attack relies upon their forwards exploiting spaces usually by winning aerial duels and chasing defenders higher up the pitch.

In that respect, Cleworth should be prepared to throw himself in multiple challenges, interceptions and even early strategic fouls to break any counter attacks. After all, QPR scored with one such rapid counter attack to make it 3-1 at the Racecourse.

LWB: Liberato Cacace

Cacace excelled with well-timed crosses and deliveries inside the box against Leicester City. Parky must entrust Cacace with a similar role so that Wrexham keep posing enough questions in front of the QPR defence.

CM: Matty James

Matty James dictates the flow of the Reds midfield. Not playing him is a risk Phil Parkinson shouldn’t try taking amidst two recent winless evenings.

CM: Lewis O’Brien

Lewis O’Brien did a fine job crashing into the Leicester box on multiple occasions. He got into good scoring positions, even netted a goal and should be on the lookout for more loose chances and rebounds against QPR.

RWB: Issa Kabore

Kieffer Moore and Sam Smith both like a field day with crosses coming their way, one after the other. Liberato Cacace does that from the left flank, hence, Issa Kabore should also be started to double down on Wrexham’s crossing and heading strengths.

LW: Nathan Broadhead

Rest can be the only logical reason behind benching Nathan Broadhead at home against Leicester. Now, the Red Dragons need to call Broadhead back to inspire more creativity and flair as the team craves for more goals at the moment.

ST: Kieffer Moore

Moore scored the 1-2 goal to bring back hopes of completing a QPR comeback in September. He couldn’t back then, but scoring in a winning cause tonight can both bring Wrexham back in the playoffs landscape and improve Moore’s poor start to the 2026 calendar year.

RW: Ollie Rathbone

Ollie Rathbone can simultaneously play as a No.10 in the middle and an inverted right-winger. Playing from the right hand side, Rathbone creates a flurry of shooting opportunities both for himself and his teammates. At QPR, the more chances created the better the night can turn up for Wrexham.
