Wrexham have confirmed their first pre-season friendly ahead of the 2026/27 campaign as the club faces Wisła Kraków on 11th July 2026.
While Wrexham approach the end of a highly anticipated January with no signings, the club’s transfer window has been decent. Despite no big signings to show for, a boring event has set them up for a brighter future.
Undeniably, Wrexham’s biggest achievement this winter has been bidding a tough bye to a couple of fan-favourite club heroes. With most veteran stars out, the Reds have laid the groundwork for the future with renewals like Max Cleworth.
Factor this in with Wrexham’s tactful strategy of no signings not to disturb a succeeding group. Even at the very least, this propels them years ahead of the average Championship club’s curve.
Interestingly, it turns out that the Reds aren’t limiting their future planning to just transfers. With the first game of the 2026/27 Preseason confirmed, Wrexham have scheduled a friendly fixture against Wisła Kraków in July 2026.
The club announced the Preseason friendly, saying: “To celebrate their 120th anniversary we have been invited to play Wisła Kraków as part of our pre-season preparations. The game will take place at Synerise Arena on Saturday July 11.”
Wrexham & Wisła Kraków share similar resurgence
Until now, Wrexham have rarely faced off Polish clubs in their history. Apart from eliminating Stal Rzeszów on a 3-1 aggregate in the 1975-76 European Cup Winners’ Cup second round, the Welsh side’s past with Polish sides remains rarely documented.
Despite this, Wrexham and Wisła Kraków share a similar rebirth story that makes this Preseason celebration far more special.

Among Wrexham locals, the iconic 2011 revival remains a heroic tale. With the fans collecting a sum of £100,000 within a day to save Wrexham from being expelled from the league, WST’s act has been the reason for the Welsh club’s upsurge and success today.
Though the supporters’ trust couldn’t lift Wrexham sportingly to higher tiers, they walked so that Rob & Ryan could run. Fast forward to now, and Wrexham is nearing its Premier League ambition.
Very similar to the Reds’ story, Wisła Kraków faced an unstable financial period in 2019. Drowning in debt on the back of a brief hooliganism period, the local fans intervened to save the club from going bankrupt through crowdfunding.
Nearly 7 years later, the club feels like it is returning to its identity as it approaches the memorable 120-year landmark in existence.
Wrexham Vs Wisła Kraków could be a promotion feast
Apart from the Polish side’s much-anticipated anniversary, the meeting at Synerise Arena can be an iconic promotion afterparty. With both clubs impending a promotion to the first-tier football, Wrexham Vs Wisła Kraków ought to be a major celebration.
Talking of Wrexham, the Reds’ Championship spell has exceeded expectations until now. Should the club keep going strong until the end of the campaign, the Reds can hit the Premier League come July.
Similar to the Welsh club, Wisła Kraków is in contention for a return to the Ekstraklasa(Polish 1st division League). Ever since the 2019 revival, Wisła Kraków’s journey has been tough but inspirational, and finally, they feel they are reaching the top tier after many years.
Sitting currently at the top of the I Liga(Polish 2nd division League), Wisła Kraków are alone at the top until the ongoing mid-season break. With their campaign restarting from February, the side would hope to stretch their 9-point lead for a comfortable promotion in May.
Overall, the July friendly is bound to have both fanbases getting involved in a historic celebration of a shared revival story and post-success. Let’s see if the occasion turns merrier with both sides getting promoted.
