Wrexham is among the clubs interested in acquiring Sheffield Wednesday’s prodigy talent Bailey Cadamarteri.
With a solid 1-0 win in matchday 30, Wrexham’s on-field commitments are over until the transfer window deadline. While this lets them dedicate all their attention to the signing business, it takes away their chance for first-hand evaluation of more transfer targets.
For instance, Wrexham faced their full-back target, Yan Valery, in the latest Sheffield Wednesday matchday. As Wrexham met him as a competitor, the Reds would’ve made a better assessment of him.
However, Valery wasn’t the only one auditioning for a potential Wrexham transfer. As per The Yorkshire Post, the Reds went into the matchday eyeing another Owls’ prodigy.
The player in discussion is Sheffield Wednesday forward Bailey Cadamarteri. Having played the complete 90 minutes, the 20-year-old impressed on a couple of instances. He launched Okonkwo with a save for the Owls’ best chance of the game, among other applaudable plays.
Post-game, Cadamarteri was seen bidding bye to the Owls’ fans amidst his departure talks. With clubs like Millwall, Wrexham, Stoke, Blackburn, and Charlton all interested in acquiring the up-and-coming talent, Cadamarteri is likely to switch sides soon.
Bailey Cadamarteri’s EFL experience attracts Wrexham
Apart from his talent, Cadamarteri’s game experience is exceptional for his age. Despite being just 20 years old, the forward has recorded 75 league appearances in the last three seasons.
This includes 2 spells for Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship, while one loan for Lincoln City in League One last season.
On the back of a successful League One spell, Cadamarteri has already emerged as a regular starter for the Owls. While the club’s financial woes have had a say in it, Cadamarteri’s rise under Danny Rohl speaks for his attacking prowess.

After making his Championship debut under Rohl in the 2023/24 season, Cadamarteri soon stood out. Within weeks of his debut, he got the EFL Young Player of the Month award for 3 goals scored in December 2023.
While Cadamarteri has seen goals come challenging this season, he has had some memorable kicks to his name. One of them came against Wrexham in matchday 3 when he snatched away a possible first win from the Reds.
With a calm but crackling finish, Cadamarteri levelled the game in the 81st minute. On that day, the prodigy ensured Moore’s brace ended up futile. Ironically, the 20-year-old may now arrive as Big Kieff’s strike-up partner.
Cadamarteri can become Wrexham’s Sidiki Cherif alternative
Until very recently, Sidiki Cherif was the priority January target for Wrexham. His latest transfer update has the Reds planning more seriously for a move of Sammie Szmodics or Davis Keillor-Dunn.
While a transfer for either of the striking leads is practically imminent, signing Cadamarteri gives Wrexham a luxury surplus. That’s because the youngster can arrive as Sidiki Cherif’s alternative signing.
An up-and-rising star like Cherif, Cadamarteri edges the teenager on proven Championship experience. With a better injury record and similar traits, Cadamarteri can be the long-term option Wrexham were searching for in Sidiki Cherif.
That’s not forgetting how Sheffield Wednesday’s financial situation can force them to let go of Cadamarteri for a cut-price fee. Not only does this save a chunk of Wrexham’s initial £19m plans for Cherif, but it gives them a more tested option from the English division itself.
Having risen through the Owls’ academy ranks, Wrexham can leverage his progress until now and make him follow Max Cleworth’s footsteps. Already a starter for his club, the Reds can make the most of him with their development plan.
Overall, Bailey Cadamarteri is another interesting transfer target for Wrexham. It remains to be seen if Wrexham take the long-term bet on him.
