Wrexham are willing to splash a big transfer fee on signing a flop Serie A striker in the final hours of the winter transfer deadline day.
Last night, Wrexham finally announced Zak Vyner’s signing despite ironing out the deal before the weekend began. A striker and a right-back are thought to be on the shopping list before tonight’s winter transfer deadline. In terms of fullbacks, the Reds have began playing their cards with 2 international transfer targets lined up.
Most likely, one of them will linkup with Phil Parkinson’s men very soon. But first up, a fresh striker update has arrived. Wrexham have scouted another talented striker from abroad and they are even willing to splash big on him.
Wrexham pursue Serie A striker Idrissa Toure
Transfer journalist Alan Nixon has lifted the lid on Wrexham’s new striker pursuit. While dropping a £6m price tag, Nixon suggested that Serie A club Pisa’s forward Idrissa Toure appeals the Reds for a late January transfer. Not long ago, Wrexham fans learned that £19m target Sidiki Cherif had joined forces with Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
In front of Cherif’s asking price, Toure’s £6m price point seems nominal. However, Toure is 8 years older than Cherif and at 27, he is already going through his prime years. Boss Phil Parkinson won’t have to worry much about Toure not meeting first team expectations immediately after joining which would otherwise be the case with recruiting Cherif.

Still, the grass isn’t completely greener when it comes to Toure’s transfer rumour. The 27-year-old Pisa striker is going through a crisis season at the moment mainly down to an ongoing two-month long goal drought.
Idrissa Toure 2025/26 season stats
To start things off, Idrissa Toure is more of a right winger by trade than a traditional striker. From his teenage days itself, Toure was billed as the next big German talent who was destined for massive success at the biggest stage of European football. Being a RB Leipzig and Juventus academy graduate, Toure seemed well on track to live upto his lofty career potential.
Consequently, he got a couple of promising loan offers first at Werder Bremen’s youth setup and then in Dutch outfit Vitesse’s first team. Toure wasn’t outright awful in those places, but poor goal contribution figures only rewarded him with a move to then-second tier Italian club Pisa in 2021.

Running in his fifth season at Pisa, Toure has amassed merely 14 goals for the club across all competitions. 6 of them came during Pisa’s promotion winning campaign last season, alongwith 5 assists. In Serie A, Toure has only netted 1 goal so far while laying an assist for his teammates in 21 games.
Should Wrexham sign Idrissa Toure?
Coming to the big question. Should Wrexham sign Idrissa Toure for £6m until the transfer window wraps up? If the Reds higher-ups view Toure to rain goals as a centre forward, then the answer is no.
The German attacker has spent enough seasons in professional football without ever getting near the ten goal mark which says his scoring output won’t skyrocket at Wrexham either. If Wrexham plan to deploy Toure as a right-winger, then the transfer fee can be justified to an extent.
But Phil Parkinson isn’t a boss who asks for natural wingers. Instead, wingbacks and playmakers handle the chance creating load in his system. Again, there doesn’t seem to be enough merits with Idrissa Toure’s signature. Rest, let’s see what does Wrexham decide on the £6m Idrissa Toure chance.
