Following the Nations League draw, Wrexham’s trio of Kieffer Moore, Nathan Broadhead & Danny Ward will face Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland in the tournament.
Turning attention momentarily from club competitions to National football, it’s been a phase to rejoice for Wrexham fans. While the locals prepare for a historic promotion charge, the shared happiness of the Welsh
community animates them.
This follows after the latest Nations League draw for the 2026/27 campaign. Having achieved promotion to the A League, Wales finds itself in the A4 group alongside Portugal, Denmark and Norway after the draw.
Recently, the official @Cymru account updated on the draw, quoting: “GRŴP A4. Our #NationsLeague group has been confirmed.”
While a moment of pride for the Welsh football and players, this development comes as heartfelt news to Wrexham. That’s because the club can see at least three superstars in national colours during the 2026/27 Nations League A campaign.
The players in discussion are star forward Kieffer Moore(52 Wales National Caps), backup keeper Danny Ward(44 Wales National Caps) and in-form Nathan Broadhead(17 Wales National Caps).
Wales’ heroic return to 2026/27 Nations League A
In all aspects, Wales’ inaugural Nations League A campaign in the 2022/23 season was a nightmare. After accumulating just a single point from their 6 group games in a challenging A4 seeding, the side went down to the Nations League B for the 2024/25 campaign.
Already troubled by a relegation, national legend Gareth Bale’s timely retirement after the WC 2022 added to Wales’ trouble. However, the way they fought back to script a Nations League A return is just sensational.
Thanks to superb performances from Harry Wilson, Brennan Johnson, and Kieffer Moore, Wales went through the 2024/25 Nations League B campaign unbeaten. While Nathan Broadhead stood out injured, the Welsh side, led by experienced figures in Moore & Danny Ward, finished at the top of group 4 standings with 12 points.
A top-place finish in the 2024/25 Nations League B campaign guaranteed their return to the League A. Fast forward to the draw, Wales are now alongside Portugal, Norway and Denmark in a fight for European domination.
Wrexham trio to host Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland
While a Nations League A return brings in enormous pride for Wales, the draw has fans celebrating for multiple reasons. One of them includes witnessing some of the biggest football names arriving in the nation.
Given the home and away double round-robin schedule for the group stage, Wales will welcome Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo and Norway superstar Erling Haaland. Though a surreal update for Welsh local fans, this update comes as overwhelming for Wrexham fans.

That’s because their club stars, Kieffer Moore, Nathan Broadhead and Danny Ward would face some of the best players in the world on the Welsh soil.
Arguably, the Wrexham trio had a comparatively underwhelming contribution in the 2024/25 Nations League campaign. This time, they’re tasked to secure a brilliant finish for Wales and help them retain their Nations League A status.
Can Wales make a dream run in the 26/27 Nations League?
With the Nations League 2026/27 campaign to begin next season, any forecasts now are just speculative. However, given the form of stars like Harry Wilson, Kieffer Moore & Broadhead, Wales can be hopeful of fancying their way to a memorable tournament run.
Not to forget, Wales had hopes left to stay up in the 2022/23 Nations League campaign until the last group matchday. But a defeat in a must-win game against Poland crushed their hopes.
This time, Wales go into the tournament with a power-packed bunch of solid pedigree. With in-form stars like Harry Wilson(14 G/A this season), Kieffer Moore(15 G/A this season), alongside exciting players like Brennan Johnson(4 G/A this season) and Nathan Broadhead(11 G/A this season), things feel doable for the Welsh side.
All that Wales needs is a couple of wins against Norway and Denmark or a lucky day against Portugal alongside some decent results to advance to the next round. While the side’s focus should be on retaining their Nations League A status, Wales could leverage the Wrexham trio to fancy a dream run in the tournament.
