Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds working wonders at ‘Colombian Wrexham’

Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds is following the proven Reds blueprint to revolutionise Colombian Top Flight side Inter Bogotá.

Standing at the 6th spot in the Championship, Wrexham are going strong in their pursuit of Premier League promotion. If the Reds accomplish the mission this season, they rewrite English football history with consecutive promotions from the National League all the way to the PL.

While the multiple players involved, boss Phil Parkinson and club staff all deserve credit for this success, the true architect of Wrexham’s fairytale story has been co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

Having set their sights on taking a non‑league club like Wrexham to the Premier League, Rob and Ryan have made remarkable progress in turning that ambition into reality. In the process, they’ve sparked a wave of celebrity takeovers and become a template for success.

Recently, Wrexham fans heard of Real Madrid superstar Thibaut Courtois’ plan with “French Wrexham” Le Mans. If seeing their club become a model for others brought a smile to Wrexham fans, watching their owners recreate that journey with Inter Bogotá will be even more special.

Apart from being the co-owners at Wrexham, Rob & Ryan are part of the consortium that took over Colombian side La Equidad in January 2025. Since then, the duo has taken several steps, including rebranding the club to Inter Bogotá in an attempt to replicate their Wrexham success here.

Rob & Ryan follow Wrexham’s blueprint at Inter Bogotá

Unlike their majority ownership at Wrexham, Rob & Ryan are accompanied by celebrities like Eva Longoria, Mesut Özil and Justin Verlander at Inter Bogotá. This hasn’t restricted their fundamental operations plan as they continue to shape Bogotá’s progress in a Wrexham-esque way.

Upon arriving in February 2021, Rob & Ryan’s biggest focus was to spread Wrexham’s word everywhere. The duo achieved this by creating the award-winning docuseries “Welcome to Wrexham” and multiple brand sponsorships through their celebrity connections.

At Inter Bogotá, Rob and Ryan are following the blueprint of Wrexham’s early success by prioritising the build‑up of a global audience. In just 12 months at the Colombian club, they’ve already launched several initiatives toward that goal.

Among the notable actions, the club hands out printed lyric sheets at its stadium to foster a collective identity among supporters. Recently, as a gesture of thanks, they sent free jerseys to all season ticket holders.

In around a year since Rob & Ryan arrived as the club owners, Inter Bogotá has crossed 200k followers on social media platforms. So far, Ryan Reynolds has been pictured with the club branding multiple times as he stood central to the club’s rebranded jersey launch earlier this year.

It’s been only over 12 months, but Wrexham owners are quickly turning Inter Bogotá into the next Wrexham-inspired story.

Inter Bogotá can fulfil Rob & Ryan’s longing for League title

In the five years since their takeover of Wrexham, Rob and Ryan have enjoyed countless celebratory moments, including back‑to‑back promotions. However, the duo is yet to get their hands on a League title, with all their promotions coming as runner-ups.

To Wrexham fans’ surprise, their sister club, Inter Bogotá, can fulfil this longing of the club co-owners before the Reds themselves. And all for how, the Colombian side has seen a dramatic turnaround in their sporting results lately.

In 2025, Inter Bogotá(previously known as La Equidad) stayed in the Top Flight by courtesy of a relegation rule that looks at 3‑year averages and not just the final table. Fast forward to now, the rebranded side leads the division with 17 points after the first 8 games.

So far, the management’s plan to bring in an Argentine coach, Ricardo Valiño and strengthen their side with super signings in Dereck Moncada and Wuilker Faríñez is working wonders. While the Colombian side has a long way to go, they pose as a serious title contender this year.

If Inter Bogotá carries their ongoing momentum and finishes in the Top 8, they’ll get a shot at winning the Torneo Apertura. Should they even slip up in the knockouts, they learn from this experience and start from scratch in the Finalización to win their inaugural Primera División league title.

Currently standing at the top of the table, an inaugural title in the first campaign after rebranding is possible for Inter Bogotá. Will the side be able to do it this year? Time will tell.
