Wrexham vs Swansea Welsh derby handed Hollywood plot twist

Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac are set to make their commentary debut in the Welsh Derby against Swansea.

The latest Championship run-in stat has given Wrexham fans a reality check of their scary schedule ahead. While the Reds are prone to sides like Coventry & Middlesbrough the most, the club would need to be aware of bottom-half clubs, too.

Time and again, Wrexham have had difficulties in finishing the job against mid-table clubs. This makes the remaining clash against Swansea, Sheffield United, West Brom and Stoke City even more important for the Reds’ promotion charge.

Undoubtedly, Wrexham are in for a tricky spell when they face Swansea, Sheffield & West Brom within the next 5 league games. But this stretch just became a lot more exciting for Wrexham fans with the recent update.

That’s because the club heads into this tricky stretch with some special guests in tow, starting with the Welsh derby against Swansea.

Breaking the suspense, the guests in discussion are Wrexham owners, Ryan Reynolds & Rob Mac. As per Sky Sports, the co-owners will be covering the Wrexham Vs Swansea Welsh derby contest in a special segment programme, named “Live from Wrexham with Rob & Ryan”.

Rob & Ryan make their commentary debut Vs Swansea

Sky Sports officially mentioned: “Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac land their first-ever live commentary gig on Sky Sports!”

The announcement further read: “Don’t miss Live from Wrexham with Rob & Ryan alongside the main Wrexham vs Swansea match coverage from 7pm on 13 March on Sky Sports Football.”

Ever since their revolutionary work for Wrexham and their sister club’s success, Rob & Ryan have become benchmark standards in the celebrity-owned club model. While the duo’s management remains praiseworthy, their extensive involvement in the sporting matters has been limited.

In fact, Rob & Ryan previously admitted to their newness to football. Having learned the rules of the game just in time before their 2021 takeover, it isn’t surprising that this commentary-cum live reaction watchalong will be the co-owners’ inaugural one officially.

Ryan Reynolds & Rob Mac’s commentary dream comes true

During their 5 years on the Wrexham journey, Rob & Ryan have dropped various iconic reactions. Be it Ryan Reynolds’ surprised response to drawing Chelsea in the FA Cup or Rob Mac’s humour-filled tweets, the duo has elevated entertainment for fans time and again.

This makes their commentary debut even more exciting, as Wrexham fans will be able to catch their live reactions alongside enjoying the Welsh derby.

What makes the upcoming event even more special is the duo’s bias for the Wrexham community. Aptly, Sky Sports didn’t hesitate in their promotion commercial of the Welsh derby contest, saying: “It’s a Welsh Derby with two slightly biased commentators…”

If that was a cheeky one from Sky Sports, Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds didn’t miss either. The Hollywood actor dropped the acknowledgement of his special presence for the upcoming event, mentioning: “In anticipation of live-announcing the Swansea match,

@RMcElhenney and I have been sending each other 90-minute voice notes for five years now. Let’s do this! Tune in to Live from Wrexham on March 13th.”

Finally, the duo’s 5-year-long practice will bear fruit as they get the commentary opportunity for the Welsh derby. Though it’s the duo’s inaugural gig in the role, it’s bound to go down as a memorable one for the whole Wrexham community.
