Opta Analyst’s Supercomputer predicts Wrexham to finish the Championship campaign with 71 points in seventh spot.
With each passing matchday, the Championship playoff race grows tighter and more defined. Factor in the predicted run‑in results, and pundits have begun offering their initial forecasts on how it might all end.
Recently, Wrexham fans listened to Sky Sports analyst Jobi McAnuff’s playoff verdict on how he believes Southampton might claim the final playoff spot. To the Reds’ disbelief, the pundit’s claim has been echoed by Opta’s supercomputer as well.
According to Opta Analyst charts, Wrexham will finish the Championship season with 71 points. The Reds have been touted to miss the final playoff spot by two points to the in-form Southampton side.
This means Wrexham are likely to add 11 points to their current total over the final eight games. On that note, here’s a look at how Wrexham’s results will likely look in the final stretch of the season.
Wrexham Vs Sheffield United – Draw
Wrexham’s trip to Bramall Lane will see the Reds receive a hostile reception from Sheffield United. With Chris Wilder’s side ready to give their all to create a “Cup final” atmosphere to challenge Wrexham, it will be difficult for the Reds to grab all three points here.
Factor in that this could be the final matchday before several injured players return, and a draw might be a realistic target for Wrexham.
Wrexham Vs West Brom – Win
When Wrexham last faced West Brom, the spoils were shared in a 1‑1 draw. But much has changed since then, and the two sides now find themselves in very different positions.
While West Brom are scrapping to avoid relegation, Wrexham are chasing a playoff spot. Fresh after the March international break, the Reds should have too much for an inconsistent Baggies side.
Wrexham Vs Southampton – Loss
Wrexham Vs Southampton on 7th April would be the Reds’ most decisive clash of the entire campaign. With both these promotion contenders going head-to-head, it will be a virtual knockout for the final playoff berth.
Though Wrexham will be more rested going into the matchday, Southampton can flip the script if they decide to rest key players in the FA Cup tie against Arsenal. Given Southampton’s unbeaten streak, they are likely to emerge as the better side here.
Wrexham Vs Birmingham City – Draw
Birmingham’s disastrous form in the last five games has eliminated them from the playoff equation. Barring a miracle, the club’s hopes of a Premier League push are over for this season.
But the Blues can spoil other playoff contenders’ party. During their last faceoff against Wrexham, the sides shared points in a 1-1 draw. Birmingham will be determined not to let the Reds leave with anything more than another draw this time.

Wrexham Vs Stoke City – Draw
Stoke City’s 2025/26 season has been a story of two halves. While they defeated Wrexham during their promotion contention phase, the Potters are likely to finish mid-table now.
Even though their season is practically over, Stoke excels in disrupting the plans of other promotion contenders. Given that Stoke restricted Ipswich to a draw and beat Watford in recent weeks, it could be really challenging for Wrexham to pull off anything more than a draw here.
Wrexham Vs Oxford United – Win
Just like Wrexham, Oxford United have a lot to play for in the final stretch of the season. Coming off the back of three wins in their last five games, the U’s are pushing hard to escape the relegation zone.
Given that Oxford are the only side common to both Wrexham and Southampton’s run-in, the side becomes naturally important for Wrexham to follow. The Reds won’t want to settle for anything less than a win against Oxford United to reach as close to the playoffs as they can.
Wrexham Vs Coventry City – Draw
Finally, Wrexham face the most challenging games of their run‑in. Firstly, the Reds would want to do everything to get some crucial points against league leaders, Coventry.
During their last meeting, Kieffer Moore delivered a superb hat trick to beat Coventry 3-2. But given that such performances are the exception rather than the rule, Wrexham’s realistic target will be a draw at Coventry’s fortress.
Wrexham Vs Middlesbrough – Loss
Given the gruelling Championship playoff race, the hunt for the 6th spot could boil down to the final matchday for Wrexham. This makes a result against promotion‑contenders Middlesbrough all the more vital.
But while Wrexham chase the playoffs, Boro are competing for an automatic promotion spot. With their superior squad depth, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they get the better of the Reds in the rematch of their 1‑1 draw earlier this season.
