Wrexham pursue Serie A right-back Idrissa Toure to replace departed fullback Issa Kabore after his loan return to Manchester City.
Over the past weekend, Wrexham confirmed the released list of players following the 2025/26 season. Veterans like Andy Cannon and Jay Rodriguez were let go by the Red Dragons after seemingly having no clear future at the club.
However, that wasn’t the case with Issa Kabore. He had a stellar season with 8 assists despite picking up a 2 month long knee lengthy towards the end of 2025. During the Championship run-in, Kabore was easily a top 3 Wrexham player alongside Josh Windass and George Dobson who gave his all on both ends of the pitch in hope of making it to the playoffs.
After those efforts, it’s an absolute pity that Wrexham couldn’t afford to keep hold of Kabore who went back to his parent club Manchester City. One could argue injuries left Wrexham in doubt over whether or not to negotiate a permanent Kabore signing.
Regardless, it’s time to look forward for Wrexham and try to replace Issa Kabore with the best affordable choice on the market. Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has named one shortlist on Wrexham’s radar, and it’s one the club has visited before.
Wrexham pursue Serie A right-back Idrissa Toure
Taking to X, Nicolo Schira shared an update on Wrexham’s Issa Kabore replacement plan: “Wrexham have shown interest in Pisa’s right back Idrissa Tourè.”
As said above, it’s not the first time Wrexham are eyeing Idrissa Toure as a transfer target. Back in January, the Wrexham top brass were mulling over a deadline day move to add Toure into the wide midfielder ranks.

All season long, boss Phil Parkinson has been forced to use Ryan Longman way often at right wingback. Longman is neither a quick-footed player nor is his defending impressive, and games against Hull City and Watford in March exposed his weaknesses.
With Idrissa Toure, Wrexham will get both a tall and athletic fullback capable of matching pace in front of Championship attackers. Compared to Kabore, Toure is 3 years older and doesn’t seem to be as injury prone as the former.
Wrexham holds major advantage for signing Idrissa Toure
Another added advantage with targeting Idrissa Toure is the club-to-club negotiations. Toure plays for Pisa in Serie A, who are 20th in the Italian top flight with 18 points to their name from 37 matches. They are 16 points adrift of the relegation zone, and with only a single game remaining they are long relegated at this point.

Next year, Pisa will have to cut costs in the Italian second division and for that, they are very likely to accept a modest bid from Wrexham for Toure. No transfer fees have been mentioned so far, but a €2-3m offer will be quite tempting for Pisa.
Now compare it to negotiating with Manchester City for Issa Kabore, it’s a night and day difference. Previously, Wrexham signed Liberato Cacace from the then-Serie A club Empoli in 2025.
Hence, it’s not unusual for Wrexham to dive into the Italian market once again for another fullback. Let’s see how the Idrissa Toure to Wrexham rumour plays out.
