Charlton Athletic star Lloyd Jones has been labelled a massive doubt vs Wrexham. As the club captain, Lloyd Jones has played every league game so far.
Tomorrow, Wrexham will wrap up February with an away Championship trip to Charlton Athletic. Phil Parkinson’s men have secured two back-to-back wins prior to it, and have been blessed with a positive injury boost heading into The Valley.
Charlton Athletic have also steadied their ship recently with 3 draws, a win and a defeat apiece in the past five matches. The Addicks are clearly fighting to save their Championship status just as Portsmouth are doing. Hence, Nathan Jones men will pose quite a similar challenge to what Wrexham faced and won 2-1 in midweek.
Scoring multiple goals in the first half should again be the way forward for Phil Parkinson’s men. At Charlton Athletic, that task could become a simple ask for Wrexham with the fresh Addicks injury update.
Lloyd Jones labelled a doubt vs Wrexham
Earlier in the week, Charlton Athletic were in action against West Brom away from home. They were playing well in the first half until their club captain and star defender Lloyd Jones pulled out with an injury. Addicks boss Nathan Jones was forced into making an early substitute for Lloyd Jones then and there.

It’s a different story that his team managed to earn a valuable point late on but there was more drama to follow. Former Wrexham defender Dennis Lawrence lost his assistant manager job at West Brom partly due to their failure to claim a Charlton Athletic win on the night.
Coming back to Lloyd Jones injury, there are 3 days separating that West Brom outing with the Wrexham one. Simply put, the 30-year-old Charlton regular races against time to make it against the Reds and his boss Nathan Jones has also acknowledged it.
In his own words, Charlton Athletic’s official website quoted Nathan Jones saying: “We will have to assess Lloyd tomorrow, but generally the squad is in really good health. Lloyd rolled his ankle and we won’t gamble with him.”
Wrexham can face weak Charlton Athletic defence
Throughout the 2025/26 Championship season, Charlton Athletic captain Lloyd Jones has started every single evening in the Addicks defence until now. Shall he get ruled out vs Wrexham, that will be Jones’ first Championship absence this campaign.

Most importantly, Phil Parkinson’s men can have a field day in front of goal while facing any new defender who replaces the ever-reliable Jones. Reds loanee Conor Coady is a natural centre-back but regularly operates as a defensive midfielder at Charlton.
Ideally, he would be the best choice to fill in for Lloyd Jones but the EFL loan rules will force him to sit out the Wrexham clash. Loaned players are forbidden to feature against their parent club in the second-tier, hence, the Addicks can’t count on Conor Coady for Saturday.
For these two factors, Wrexham are in line to meet a weaker Charlton Athletic defence at kickoff. This presents the chance to net twice, or even thrice on the night and seal the three points from the Valley without working too hard for it.
