George Dobson has made it to EA FC’s Team of the Week, receiving an 84-rated card for his sensational show in Wrexham’s Cupset over Nottingham Forest.
The shopping spree is at its peak in the January transfer window, and Wrexham remains a passive participant. While the club has been reported to be looking at various profiles, its interest in one aspect remains scarce.
Interestingly, Wrexham have shown extreme confidence in the midfield section, barely looking at options to reinforce it. Though a part of the credit goes to the club’s midfield depth, no one can deny how the week-in and week-out excellence of Wrexham players has been fundamental to it.
That ought to remind fans of George Dobson, who’s been one of the most consistent pillars of Wrexham’s midfield this season.
Despite a couple of rest days recently, Dobson has been one of Phil Parkinson’s most-used starters. And rightly so, given the midfielder gives it his best shot every time he has been in the playing XI this season.

Be it tackling, intercepting attacks, creating chances, or even scoring, Dobson has been a silver bullet for Wrexham’s midfield.
The 28-year-old’s latest FA Cup display against Nottingham was another show where he felt omnipresent on the pitch. Brilliant in attacks while putting his body on the line multiple times, the game was arguably the best one for Dobson ever in a Wrexham shirt.
Just when it couldn’t get any better amidst loud appreciation from fans worldwide, George Dobson has made his inaugural appearance in the EA Sports FC Team of the Week.
Recently, Wrexham applauded Dobson for bringing pride to the community, quoting: “A huge performance in the middle of the park on Friday earns George Dobson a place in this week’s @EASPORTSFC TOTW Llongyfarchiadau, George!”
How does EA FC’s TOTW nominations work?
EA Sports FC’s Team of the Week event follows a consistent schedule throughout the season. Every Wednesday of the week, the game launches a new TOTW at 6:00 PM GMT(at refresh).
Featuring in a 23-man roster, including a starting XI, 7 substitutes, and some reserves, the TOTW includes the best matchday performers from the biggest leagues worldwide.
George Dobson, making the cut among the substitutes, speaks about his solid performance. Getting an 84-rated card, Dobson represented the Championship tier alongwith Charlton’s Emil Riis.
Dobson’s performance called for a TOTW nomination
Unequivocally, for quite some time now, George Dobson has emerged as one of the best players in the Championship. Leading the league with the most tackles won, while among the best in duels won and ball recoveries, Dobson’s performances have been rallying a cry for recognition.
Eventually, came the Nottingham game, where Dobson made it to the Team of the Week after adding 2 sublime assists to his name.
Firstly, winning the ball for Cacace’s inaugural goal and then delivering a pinpoint perfect pass for Hyam’s header, Dobson was excellent overall. The EA FC nomination comes as a reward for it, as he’s now among the highest-rated Championship cards in the TOTW event.
Has any other Wrexham player made it to TOTW before?
While multiple players, including Super Mulls, have made it to EA FC’s TOTW nomination, George Dobson is only the 2nd one to achieve the feat this season. The first obviously being Kieffer Moore, for his perfect hat-trick against Coventry.
A hat-trick of assists for Josh Windass and a hat-trick of goals for Moore, the duo single-handedly made Wrexham’s comeback against the league leaders possible. Still, as is the nature of nominations, weighing heavily on goals, only Moore made it to the TOTW8 from Wrexham.
Ten weeks later, Dobson has built on that pride again as he featured in EA Sports FC’s TOTW18. Hopefully, it’s just another one among the many coming for Wrexham in the season left.
