Josh Windass sends a hilarious welcome message to £1m Wrexham signing Bailey Cadamarteri.
Two days have passed since the January transfer window concluded, but Wrexham fans can’t get over the new signings. The trio of Zak Vyner, Bailey Cadamarteri and Davis Keillor-Dunn have barely stepped into the building. As such, it will take them a while to get up to speed with the first team training.
In the meantime, the Reds fanbase is welcoming them with a wave of excitement on their faces. The same sentiments will be running through the Wrexham dressing room, where current starters will be helping the new faces settle in as quickly as possible without feeling overwhelmed.
There are still 3 days to go until Phil Parkinson’s men host Millwall. It’s enough time for the new recruits to adjust to their new Wrexham home, and one of them has already received a hilarious welcome.
Josh Windass sends hilarious welcome to Bailey Cadamarteri
Bailey Cadamarteri is the latest recruit in question. As for the welcome wisher, it’s none other than his former Sheffield Wednesday teammate Josh Windass.
Windass was in a full joking mood and left a hilarious note beneath Cadamarteri’s transfer announcement. In his own words, Windass joked: “Thought I got rid of ya ffs.”

Well, the two of them have shared the pitch in an Owls shirt two seasons ago but very few Wrexham fans saw this response coming. After all, Windass doesn’t let emotions get the better of him, no matter if he’s scored a wonderful volley to make it 2-2 vs QPR in injury time.
Jokes apart, Windass had gone almost 18 months without playing with Bailey Cadamarteri in a competitive game until now. The 21-year-old was sent on loan to Lincoln City while Windass was starring for the Owls as usual.
When Cadamarteri came back to Sheffield Wednesday’s first team fold, Windass had packed his bags for Wrexham on a free transfer. Hence, the Reds No.10 wasn’t wrong to wonder whether he got rid of Cadamarteri forever.
What can Wrexham expect from Josh Windass and Bailey Cadamarteri duo?
For a start, Wrexham fans shouldn’t pump up their expectations to see Josh Windass and Bailey Cadamarteri lining up every day. The duo used to rarely turn up together for Sheffield Wednesday, with only 6 matches seeing both battling it out in the Owls attack.

The former Sheffield Wednesday duo combined for a solitary goal back then, with Josh Windass assisting Bailey Cadamarteri in a Championship fixture. Before moaning at their awful chemistry, it’s important to note that the latter was still a wonderkid back then.
At the age of 20, the Jamaican international still has a lot to learn at Championship level and beyond. Windass will no doubt be willing to help him. But being in his 30s, it will be a far cry to expect him to form a striking partnership with Cadamarteri up top.
Instead, the towering striker should be treated as a long-term attacking prospect who can spearhead Wrexham’s front three in the upcoming seasons. Overall, Windass would be tasked with lifting the Reds to top-flight promotion along with the current starters.
Cadamarteri, on the other hand will be vital for Wrexham in a bid to assert further Premier League dominance over the years.
