Bailey Cadamarteri’s deadline day Wrexham update checkboxes Phil Parkinson’s Ryan Hardie condition, with Hardie free to make a move.
The transfer deadline day is living up to its chaotic reputation for Wrexham. With contacts and deals going back and forth every hour, there’s uncertainty about what the final Reds’ roster looks like.
While every department remains prone to additions & departures, things are most likely to get flipped for Wrexham upfront. Amidst all the updates in the rumour mill, boss Phil Parkinson has dropped a bold stance on a likely outgoer’s future.
He’s none other than Ryan Hardie. Though Wrexham has time and again allowed multiple players to pass through the exit door this January, Parky has shut the doors on Hardie’s face.
Though Hardie’s been touted to don a different kit for the rest of the season, Phil Parkinson reveals Wrexham’s plan to not let him leave until they finalise an attacking recruit.
As quoted by the BBC Sport Wales, Parkinson said: “Ryan’s not going
anywhere unless we bring one in. I’ve told him that. Ryan’s a good player – he’s a couple of weeks off being fit anyway.”
While the gaffer’s message speaks of his trust in getting Hardie back to his best, it dashes the 28-year-old’s hopes for a fresh start. To Hardie’s relief, Wrexham’s Cadamarteri links keep his exit chances alive with the Owls prodigy’s move almost confirmed.
Cadamarteri’s move opens exit door for Hardie
Ever since Wrexham faced Sheffield Wednesday, Cadamarteri’s transfer rumours have been picking up pace. And rightly so, as the 20-year-old gave flashes of his attacking potential once again to the Reds.
Having scored in his inaugural meeting against Wrexham, Cadamarteri came quite close to doing it again. While Okonkwo’s save denied him, the flashing strike unleashed by the prodigy proves his merit as a long-term option for Wrexham’s attack force.
Factor in his commendable Championship experience and Wrexham’s recent action on his transfer case feels perfect. Journalist Alex Miller updated on the development, saying: “Understand Bailey Cadamarteri is scheduled for a medical at Wrexham this afternoon. Deal agreed with Sheffield Wednesday.”

Cadamarteri’s arrival sees him starting as the 3rd choice in Parky’s pecking order. However, his move has started doing the magic as it unlocks the exit route for out-of-favour Ryan Hardie.
Despite minimal game time in recent months, Hardie was captivated by Parkinson’s words. Now that Cadamarteri’s deal is in the final stages, and he’s expected to fill in the 3rd-choice shoes, Hardie is free to progress his loan transfer.
Ryan Hardie to Bolton Wanderers is very likely
Given the nature of deadline day business, Bolton would be quick to leverage Wrexham’s Cadamarteri development. Having already missed an opportunity to sign Wrexham icon Paul Mullin, the League One ambitioners wouldn’t want to flounder Hardie’s deal.
Interestingly, Ryan Hardie can come as a cheat code to Bolton Wanderers on a likely deal. While his game rhythm has taken a hit this season, his Championship pedigree makes a League One stint a cakewalk for him.
In his last third-tier spell, Ryan Hardie had netted 13 goals in helping Plymouth Argyle make the Championship jump. With his numbers and EFL experience, Hardie can ease the promotion route for Bolton Wanderers, too.
Currently sitting 3rd in the League One tally, Hardie’s arrival could take them closer to an automatic promotion. However, it all begins with Bolton rushing for an eleventh-hour move for Ryan Hardie’s signing.
It remains to be seen if Bolton can win against the clock to seal Hardie’s transfer. The remaining few hours will be very crucial for whether Bolton’s promotion dream comes true.
