Predicted Wrexham lineup vs Norwich City: Issa Kabore starts?

Predicted Wrexham lineup

Predicted Wrexham lineup vs Norwich City. Will boss Phil Parkinson start Issa Kabore tonight?

Since November, Wrexham have rarely played with a lineup which is well-stocked with the talent available across the squad. Most of that was down to injuries, disciplinary issues and a regular need for player rotation to navigate the hectic festive period.

There is still an uncertain January transfer window to go. But unlike today’s opponents Norwich City, Wrexham know which cards they will keep in their pocket and which ones they will let go. So, out of nearly all available players vs Norwich City, how should boss Phil Parkinson select the best starting eleven?

Most importantly, what should Parky do in Issa Kabore’s case? After all, he will mark a return to action after 3 months and it isn’t easy to manage player workload immediately after recovery.

To answer these doubts, let’s take a look at the predicted Wrexham lineup vs Norwich City for Championship matchday 27.

Predicted Wrexham lineup vs Norwich City

GK: Arthur Okonkwo

As always, Arthur Okonkwo will slot in the Wrexham goal. The former Arsenal man is coming on the back of a heroic FA Cup display and a clean sheet against Norwich City today will boost chances of another win on the trot.

CB: Callum Doyle

Parkinson rotated defenders against similarly struggling Blackburn but games were coming fast and thick back then. The Norwich game isn’t part of a busy Wrexham schedule, hence, there’s no point in leaving Callum Doyle out.

CB: Max Cleworth

Cleworth is among the Wrexham players who have returned to peak fitness before the fixture. As a result, the 23 year old should be reinstated in his usual starting centre-back role.

CB: Dominic Hyam

Assuming Norwich will most likely lineup without Josh Sargent, Dominic Hyam will have a light task in the defence. But care needs to be taken regardless, because the Canaries have a surprise problem waiting to face Wrexham.

LWB: Liberato Cacace

George Thomason was instrumental in taking care of Wrexham’s left wing back spot for weeks. Now that Liberato Cacace has returned in scoring style, the New Zealand star must head over the proceedings on the left hand side of the Reds backline.

CM: George Dobson

George Dobson was the one spraying all kinds of attacking passes in Matty James FA Cup absence. Even here, Parky must reward Dobson with another start which will in turn give another welcome rest to the ever-reliable James.

CM: Lewis O’Brien

Ben Sheaf has also ran a lot of miles for Wrexham since December without catching enough break. Thus, Lewis O’Brien should be entrusted to build on his Nottingham Forest cameo and force the Norwich City midfielders to stay deep within their own half.

RWB: Ryan Longman

The question on Wrexham fans lips, will Issa Kabore start? Had this been a matchup vs a top-10 team then Wrexham should have put Kabore from the beginning.

However, Norwich City shouldn’t be a tough ask and the Burkina Faso starter must be used in limited capacity for a while before he is deemed fit enough. Turning to Ryan Longman will be a wise call.

LW: Nathan Broadhead

Nathan Broadhead is Wrexham’s biggest chance creating source alongside Ollie Rathbone, in all these 5 consecutive wins. Therefore, starting Broadhead doesn’t need to be a longer decision-making process for Parkinson.

ST: Kieffer Moore

It’s been ages watching Kieffer Moore and his goals. Wrexham fans share these same sentiments and finally, today should be Moore’s return day and hopefully, a Kieffer Moore special show at the Racecourse.

RW: Ollie Rathbone

Josh Windass isn’t a suitable right-wing alternative. He often goes unnoticed for larger periods of the game, with fewer touches and shots.

For that reason alone, Ollie Rathbone should be picked to complement Ryan Longman on the right flank.
