Predicted Wrexham lineup vs Ipswich Town: Which striker to start in FA Cup?

Predicted Wrexham lineup

Predicted Wrexham lineup vs Ipswich Town for tonight’s FA Cup fourth round tie. Which striker will boss Phil Parkinson start in the FA Cup?

Wrexham vs Ipswich Town is the most awaited of the 3 all-Championship FA Cup fixtures taking place tonight. The other two are Southampton vs Leicester City and Norwich City playing West Brom. Clearly, there is a huge gap in quality between those two games and Wrexham’s FA Cup 4th round tie.

At the same time, it will be a gigantic task to take down Ipswich Town who have only lost once in 2026 across all competitions. One positive for the Reds is that Kieran McKenna’s side will be missing a few star players like Marcelinho Nunez, Jaden Philogene and Wes Burns tonight.

Knowing that Wrexham are also fairly light in attack for today, the Ipswich Town absences nullify the Reds fitness worries. All three of Nathan Broadhead, Liberato Cacace and Matty James are almost ruled out of the contest. That will stress boss Phil Parkinson further about the starting lineup, who also has a tough striker choice to make.

With that said, below is the predicted Wrexham lineup vs Ipswich Town that can put the Reds in a strong position for winning the FA Cup 4th round tie.

Predicted Wrexham lineup vs Ipswich Town

GK: Arthur Okonkwo

Similar to the previous Nottingham Forest FA Cup game, this Ipswich Town tie can also boil down to penalties. Arthur Okonkwo pulled a number of good saves back then, and the same will be expected from the Wrexham No.1.

CB: Callum Doyle

Callum Doyle operated as a left-back against Millwall ever since Liberato Cacace got injured. His through passes are by far the best among the Reds defenders, and it won’t be a surprise to see Parkinson deploying Doyle as a left-sided chance creator.

Can Wrexham forwards finish Doyle’s chances better, this is the big question?

CB: Dominic Hyam

A few days ago, Dominic Hyam rallied the team to put the Millwall defeat aside. He himself made a couple of big errors that day. Today, Hyam has a chance to win his defensive battle vs Ipswich Town’s George Hirst and potentially kickstart another Wrexham winning run.

CB: Max Cleworth

If Phil Parkinson involves Zak Vyner tonight, that will mostly be as an unused substitute. Hence, Max Cleworth will be relied upon seven days after squandering an own goal in Okonkwo’s net.

Cleworth can certainly do better than that. A clean sheet against Ipswich Town will be the perfect defensive redemption for him. Rest, let’s see how good Cleworth does tonight.

LWB: Max Thomason

When Liberato Cacace was unavailable during the end of 2025, Phil Parkinson turned to George Thomason at left wingback. No doubt, that will again be the case in a few hours.

CM: George Dobson

Despite being a defensive midfielder, George Dobson brought his impressive playmaking game in the Nottingham Forest win. He made the FC 26 Team of the Week as well. Thus, backing Dobson to control the Reds midfield in front of Ipswich Town.

CM: Lewis O’Brien

Lewis O’Brien has appeared sharp in midfield ever since he scored against Leicester City at home. The 27-year-old effortlessly glided past the Millwall defence as well. Keeping that in mind, there is no reason why Lewis O’Brien should be benched for the FA Cup.

RWB: Issa Kabore

Issa Kabore has gained more preference than Ryan Longman in the past three matches. Agreed, this Ipswich Town game isn’t a Championship clash. Still, Phil Parkinson will avoid experimenting much at right wingback with opposite fullback Cacace injured and big games coming thick and fast.

CAM: Ollie Rathbone

No Nathan Broadhead means Ollie Rathbone needs to start to support Doyle on the left flank. Plus, there is a favourable theme with Rathbone scoring big goals at big occasions. Tonight’s Ipswich Town knockout game is another such evening.

CAM: Josh Windass

It’s not everyday that Josh Windass lies in the frame to start in his natural No.10 position. Today, Wrexham require Windass as a second striker due to O’Brien dropping back in midfield and an unavailable Nathan Broadhead.

Can Windass pull a strong 90 minute display like his brief QPR cameo? That will be interesting to watch.

ST: Sam Smith

Kieffer Moore has fluffed his starting chances against both QPR and Millwall. Sam Smith atleast appears more involved as a striker. For that reason, Smith should be handed the nod to give a tough time to the Ipswich Town backline.

It will be even better if Smith scores a fifth goal in 2026 by finding the back of the net in the FA Cup.
