Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac contribute to the GoFundMe fundraiser set up by former defender Jordan Tunnicliffe to help with his recovery expenses after an ACL injury.
Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have always set the standard for celebrity ownership in football. What sets them apart from other owners is their involvement in everything around Wrexham, even though the primary focus is on the football itself.
Previously, multiple Wrexham heroes have spoken about how Rob and Ryan have helped them start business ventures to lay the groundwork for life after football. The co-owners recently pulled another class act by contributing to a fundraiser for a former Wrexham player.
The player in discussion is former Wrexham centre-back Jordan Tunnicliffe. Having been a part of the Reds’ journey from 2022 to 2024, the defender has been a two-time promotion winner with the club.
Last month, Tunnicliffe suffered a season-ending horror injury while playing in the National League South. Here’s when Rob & Ryan entered the picture to give him a helping hand in covering the recovery expenses.
Jordan Tunnicliffe’s post-Wrexham spell
Tunnicliffe was a highly regarded centre-back by Phil Parkinson in his Wrexham spell. However, his time at Wrexham was plagued by injury issues that limited him to featuring just 41 times in his back-to-back promotion journey with the Reds.
Jordan Tunnicliffe left Wrexham at the end of his 2-year contract to join Solihull Moors in 2024. This spell also turned out to be an injury-afflicted one like his debut National League campaign with Wrexham.
Having played just 23 games for Moors in the 2024/25 season, Tunnicliffe dropped down to the National League North last summer to join Kidderminster Harriers. Though he wasn’t the first choice there, he became a key figure in their defence before moving to Farnborough in January.
The 32‑year‑old’s Farnborough spell turned out to be unfortunate once again. Though he was a key starter here, a long‑term injury in February cut his time short by ruling him out for the remainder of the season.
Tunnicliffe’s season-ending ACL injury
Jordan Tunnicliffe’s recent years have been repeatedly disrupted by injury. The defender’s misfortune continued during his time at Farnborough when he sustained a season-ending injury in just his fifth appearance for the club.
During matchday 34 between Farnborough and Enfield Town, Tunnicliffe went down in pain at the brink of the half-time. While he was subbed off immediately, reports later detailed that he had ruptured his ACL.

While the injury rules him out for the remainder of the season, it could be up to a year before Tunnicliffe returns to the pitch. With his Farnborough contract expiring this summer, he faced the prospect of being without an income while covering his recovery expenses.
As a result, Farnborough helped him set up a GoFundMe page to raise £15,000 for reconstructive surgery and living expenses while he recovers.
Rob & Ryan’s helping hand in Farnborough’s GoFundMe initiative
The GoFundMe initiative has been a through-and-through success so far. Within days, Farnborough has raised around £13,500 of the £15,000 target to support Tunnicliffe through this challenging time.
While fellow Wrexham supporters and loved ones stepped up for the cause, they were joined by Wrexham co‑owners Rob and Ryan. The duo’s registered company has contributed £8,000 of the total collected for the fundraiser.
Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds have once again shown that their commitment extends beyond the club to the wider Wrexham community. Their support for Jordan Tunnicliffe’s GoFundMe is just one of many philanthropic gestures they’ve made to help the people here.
For now, the collective hope is that the fundraiser soon reaches its goal and that Jordan Tunnicliffe can return to playing as early as possible. Wherever his next club may be, it’s clear that Wrexham fans and the wider community are with him in this time of need.
