Championship rivals Swansea City have slammed Sky Sports and Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac for their actions in the 2-0 Welsh derby.
It’s been seven days since Wrexham took the Welsh bragging rights over Swansea City with a 2-0 derby win. It was also the Reds only Championship win in March. On top of it, this 2-0 victory over the Swans was Wrexham’s first win against a Welsh opponent in 3 attempts this season.
That’s why, Wrexham and the fans celebrated these 3 points at Swansea like a Cup final win. Now, not everybody ends up happy after a football game. Swansea City lost to Wrexham and as such, they are still fuming over last week’s Racecourse evening till now.
Swans boss Vitor Matos must have ordered his side to respond to the Wrexham humiliation with a strong Coventry City performance tonight. Elsewhere the Swansea City top brass are busy slamming Sky Sports and Wrexham’s owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac for the Welsh derby.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac commentary
For those who missed it, Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac were invited in the commentary box for the massive Wrexham vs Swansea City afternoon. As commentators, they should be unbiased in the first place.

But let’s be honest, every Wrexham fan knew the owner’s primary focus would be on what Wrexham are doing. It was always going to be whether Wrexham are playing well or badly on the night. Not to forget, Rob Reynolds and Rob Mac cracked many jokes to keep the Wrexham fanbase entertained.
However, Swansea City weren’t amused in the least.
Swansea slam Sky Sports and Wrexham owners over Welsh derby
Most likely, Swansea City won’t get a Wrexham replay no matter what happens. But their CEO Tom Gorringe has let it be known that the Swans won’t accept any sort of biased matchday commentary going forward.
In his own words, Wales Online quoted Swansea City CEO Tom Gorringe as saying: “With the production being done by Rob and Ryan’s own production company, all of the guests and focus was on their team, there were celebrations with David Prutton – the face of Sky’s EFL coverage – and the advert for the commentary of the game failed to mention that we were playing at all.”
What next for Wrexham and Swansea City?
No matter how much Swansea City go on to criticise Wrexham and Sky Sports, the Reds won’t get any sanctions or points deduction imposed on them. Moreover, both teams aren’t scheduled to meet again this season.

Infact, there are slim chances Wrexham and Swansea City stay together in the 2026/27 Championship campaign. The Reds showed good resilience tonight to peg Sheffield United back at 1-1 and then went on to claim the 3 points through a Sam Smith finish.
Wrexham’s playoffs rivals Southampton also ran out 2-0 winners over Oxford United but that doesn’t matter much. The most important thing for Phil Parkinson’s men was not to slip up behind the Saints anymore and they have done just that.
In April, Wrexham will return from the international break with a full-fledged squad with almost no injuries remaining by then. The top 6 race vs Southampton will go on, and should Wrexham prevail they will have a strong chance of winning the playoffs final for Premier League promotion.
Coming to Swansea City, they are braced for another Championship defeat as things stand. League leaders Coventry City have stormed to a 3-0 lead at Swansea and that doesn’t look likely to change.
