Wrexham told bargain asking price for 2026 transfer every fan wishes for

Wrexham have been told a bargain asking price for Issa Kabore’s permanent 2026 transfer which every fan had been wishing for.

Wrexham spent the first transfer window of New Year 2026 winding up those deals they couldn’t agree last year. Besides Bailey Cadamarteri, both Zak Vyner and Davis Keillor-Dunn were on the Reds shortlist during the 2025 summer transfer window.

However, a flurry of 13 new signings for the Championship campaign saw both Vyner and Keillor-Dunn arrive six months later in January. Even during the recent winter window, Wrexham missed a trick not buying a new right-back.

Watching this pattern, a large section of the Reds fanbase must have started fancying a new fullback signing once the next transfer window arrives. After all, boss Phil Parkinson only had Issa Kabore as a natural right wingback at his disposal to survive the season.

Kabore had just recovered from a lengthy injury and Ryan Longman was still a makeshift wingback at best. However, the situation has improved quite a lot after one complete month since the January window slammed shut.

Issa Kabore has stepped up for Wrexham

Over the course of February, Issa Kabore has grown into a more all-round wingback. He was pacey, agile and a quick crosser down the right hand side and now he has added more defensive solidity to his game. The 24-year-old now no longer rushes forward without ensuring that the backline is well covered.

The Millwall game and the recent outings against Portsmouth and Charlton Athletic are perfect example in that regard. Against Millwall, Kabore left everything forward to swing crosses. That move backfired as Wrexham didn’t score any goals but conceding twice on two counter attacks flowing through his side.

While facing Portsmouth, Kabore only advanced forward when Callum Doyle was accompanying the back three behind. Rest, the Burkina Faso international won a couple of 1v1 defensive duels to help close out a 2-1 Wrexham win. Same happened at Charlton Athletic, with Kabore sliding in time to deny Charlton an early lead.

These defensive contributions haven’t got unnoticed among the fans. The club also rates Issa Kabore highly and now plans to wrap his signature as the first transfer ahead of the 2026 summer window.

Wrexham told bargain asking price for Issa Kabore signing

As per an Africa Foot report, the Reds can secure Issa Kabore’s permanent services for just $2-4m. That comes out to roughly £1.5m to £3m which is a complete bargain in the English transfer market.

Loan players that excel throughout the campaign often go up in value. And Kabore also hails from a Big 6 Premier League parent club, Manchester City. Hence, the Sky Blues were expected to demand over the £5m mark and leave Wrexham pondering whether to pursue Kabore permanently or not.

Thankfully, that’s not the case and the Red Dragons can hope to strike an agreement near the £2m transfer fee range. Wrexham will save a couple of extra millions on this deal which they can put to other uses like adding more depth to midfield with Premier League quality players.

The current midfield engine is well-suited for Championship needs but Premier League football is a different level altogether. A few more Kabore-like loan deals can turn out to be fruitful for building Wrexham’s Premier League core. First of all, let’s see how the promotion push goes.
