Wrexham eyeing Bailey Cadamarteri transfer repeat on 20 yo Championship striker

Wrexham is eyeing Tottenham prodigy forward Will Lankshear, after the 20-year-old has emerged as a sensation in the Championship with his recent match-winning performances.

With the announced pre-season tour, Wrexham were already proactive in their preparations for next season. The recent FA Cup elimination to Chelsea reinforces those plans by underscoring exactly what they need to reach the Premier League level.

Last week, Wrexham recognised that a Premier League veteran like Andy Robertson could help them achieve their top-flight ambitions. The Reds continue in the same direction as they add another Premier League target to their shortlist for the summer.

The player in question is Tottenham prodigy Will Lankshear. According to Football League World, the forward’s performances during his ongoing loan spell at Oxford United have made him a summer target for Premier League promotion favourites Wrexham and Middlesbrough.

Notably, Lankshear has scored 8 goals for Oxford United so far during his season-long loan in the Championship. The 20-year-old has been key to the club’s relegation safety hopes this campaign by being their top scorer.

Wrexham are drawn not only to Lankshear’s impact at Oxford but also to his remarkable youth record. Despite a few first-team appearances for Spurs, his 23 goals in 29 Premier League 2 outings are impossible to ignore.

Factor in his previous U18 records of averaging more than a goal contribution per game, and Lankshear’s reputation speaks for itself. While the summer is still months away, the 20-year-old is one to watch in the upcoming transfer window.

Wrexham to repeat Cadamarteri transfer repeat with Lankshear

Wrexham’s interest in reinforcing talented forwards has been hidden from none after the January transfer window. Having been touted to splash £19m for Sidiki Cherif, the Reds ultimately settled by bringing in Bailey Cadamarteri on deadline day.

Now, Wrexham look forward to building further on the strategy by reinforcing Will Lankshear in the summer.

Interestingly, Bailey Cadamarteri and Will Lankshear possess too many similarities that are hard to ignore. Firstly, both of them are 20-year-old forwards featuring in the Championship.

When Wrexham scouted Cadamarteri, he was a star player for a relegation-threatened side, and so is Lankshear now. Despite his heroics of 8 goals in 34 appearances, Oxford find themselves fighting to rise from the relegation zone.

Further, just as with Bailey Cadamarteri, Wrexham have the opportunity to scout Lankshear firsthand in the Championship.

That opportunity will arise when Wrexham face Oxford United on matchday 44. While the Reds’ playoff fate is expected to be clear by then, they can use the game to assess Lankshear firsthand and decide on their summer plans.

Additionally, if Lankshear helps Oxford avoid relegation at the end of the season, Wrexham is bound to monitor him closely over the summer.

Will Lankshear’s rumour makes Wrexham’s Cadamarteri plan clear

While new signing Zak Vyner made his debut start against Chelsea and Davis Keillor-Dunn got some minutes at the end, Bailey Cadamarteri is still awaiting his club debut for Wrexham.

Though the 20-year-old has been part of Wrexham’s matchday squads and first-team training, Cadamarteri has so far been an unused option. With forwards like Moore, Smith, Keillor-Dunn, and Rodriguez ahead of him in the pecking order, his chances are already limited, and the potential arrival of Lankshear would only make things tougher.

That’s because Will Lakshear’s credentials outweigh those of Bailey Cadamarteri. Being an Arsenal academy graduate and having a Premier League pedigree, Lankshear holds a nudge above the Wrexham forward.

Even if Lankshear himself doesn’t arrive at Wrexham, the club’s interest in adding more young attacking talent speaks to Cadamarteri’s future. Though the 20-year-old is a long-term option for the club, he is unlikely to emerge as a first-team regular anytime soon.

While his deadline day signing at the eleventh hour couldn’t allow for an immediate loan exit, Bailey Cadamarteri is likely to be sent out on a developmental loan next summer. This possibility becomes even more realistic if Wrexham reach the Premier League this term.

Cadamarteri is a talent that needs regular game time to develop and reach his full potential. While he has shown flashes of being a future top-flight player, he needs to prove his worth at lower levels repeatedly to get that chance at Wrexham.

As the ongoing season moves into its conclusive stages, Cadamarteri’s game time is unlikely to improve. All signs point to a development loan for the newly signed forward until he becomes ready to help Wrexham’s first team.
