Andy Cannon Wrexham career
Being a member of the back-to-back-to-back promotion achieving Wrexham squad, Andy Cannon is one of the rare starters who haven’t completed 100 appearances for the club. Most of that was down to injury issues, which denied Cannon the chance to start against Charlton Athletic in the Championship promotion winning game.
Else, the 29-year-old would have secured the achievement of starting in all of Wrexham’s past 3 promotion winning games. Regarding form and fitness, Cannon’s best season at Wrexham came during the 2023/24 campaign when Phil Parkinson’s men were battling in League Two.
In 39 games that season, Cannon netted 8 goals across all competitions while laying a further 6 assists for his teammates. In League One, Cannon was decent with 4 goals and 27 competitive outings under his belt.

When can Andy Cannon make his Burton Albion debut?
In a few hours, Burton Albion will kick-off their away League One trip to Bolton Wanderers. For sure, Cannon will run out of time to even play a part in today’s evening. Instead, a more reasonable Burton Albion debut date for Andy Cannon will be 1st February’s showdown against league leaders Cardiff City.
At Wrexham, the midfielder could have gotten Carabao Cup minutes against Cardiff however his injury issues held him back. The hope remains that Cannon will be close to full match sharpness, and thus can play the full minutes against the Blue Birds on Saturday.
Luckily, Cannon’s Cup competition hopes haven’t vanished for this season. His new side Burton Albion have drawn Premier League outfit West Ham in the 4th round of the FA Cup.
Even though there would be less chances of an upset, Cannon has witnessed his Wrexham teammates knock out Nottingham Forest recently. Hence, him and his Burton side can use that as an inspiration.
