Wrexham fans are divided over the recent Paul Mullin comments regarding a lack of chances thrown at him by Reds boss Phil Parkinson.
The growing trend of Wrexham legends slamming the club for their departures is quite concerning. First, Elliot Lee threw a dig at Phil Parkinson. Then, legendary striker Paul Mullin vented his frustration upon receiving a bit part role in his final season with the first team.
As active players, it’s quite immature from both Lee and Mullin to publicly call out Wrexham like this. They shouldn’t forget that they are still contracted to the club at the end of the day. If there was even the slightest chance of them playing for Wrexham or getting involved in the 2026 summer preseason, Lee and Mullin have definitely lost the plot.
On top of it, they are sure to receive plenty of stick from the fanbase. A few years ago, it was hard to imagine Wrexham fans turning up on Paul Mullin. However, the Reds fanbase has had enough now.
Wrexham fans divided over recent Paul Mullin comments
Half of Wrexham supporters are criticising Mullin’s behaviour. The other half still holds Super Paul Mullin in high regard but nobody knows how long their patience will last.
One fan said: “But when you’ve had chance after chance in L1 and you’re not performing or scoring, it’s not “out of the blue”. “

Regarding the stats, it’s true that Mullin has never lit up League One football. His best scoring season in the third tier was 4 goals, which doesn’t give hope that Mullin would have hit the ground running in the Championship.
The 31-year-old striker may need to accept his League One shortcomings after all. Another fan compared Mullin to his former Wrexham strike partner Ollie Palmer.
Palmer wasn’t a cut above Mullin when it came to League One; however, his no-off-field Wrexham jibes are much more appealing. A second fan added: “He’s a hero for us but he was paid well and given the very best treatment when injured. Palmer has moved on with more grace imo.”
Coming to Paul Mullin backers, there’s no shortage of them among the Wrexham fanbase. All of them are echoing the same sentiments that Mullin wasn’t granted a decent leeway in the Championship for all the hard yard he put at the Racecourse for the past four years.

One of them concluded: “Not cool for me how he’s be treat at Wrexham, should have been given more time to get back to his best.”
Considering that Phil Parkinson never forgot Jay Rodriguez from the first team despite a four-month injury absence, keeping Mullin in the 25-man roster was the bare minimum the club should have done. Then, there’s a case being made for other Wrexham regulars like George Dobson.
Like Mullin, he hadn’t featured in the Championship prior to the current 2025/26 season. However, Dobson isn’t flopping in the midfield by any means. One fan threw this Mullin-Dobson comparison saying: “Has he been given a chance? Everyone wrote dobbo off before the start of the season and he’s shined since being in the championship.”
Certainly, that invites room for more debates whether Mullin may have cut it at Wrexham or not. First of all, let’s see how many goals he racks up for Bradford City until May.
