Wrexham fans are blaming the same player for 1-1 Leicester City draw amidst Phil Parkinson’s poor substitution strategy.
The 1-1 draw vs Leicester City almost feels as a Wrexham defeat. Despite looking quite off the pace as compared to recent Championship games, Wrexham managed to find a 1-0 opening and stay in the driving seat for nearly 90 minutes.
But then, one loose chance fell to Foxes centre back Jannik Vestergaard and Wrexham’s promotion progress was stalled again. Throughout the previous 3 weeks, the Reds looked to have found the perfect second-tier touch with every Phil Parkinson decision paying off well.
Regardless of the attack he choose, the defence he named, Wrexham would go on to claim 3 points like clockwork. With 2 winless results, fans are right to fear that Phil Parkinson’s winning formula is fading away again. During November, a similar Championship crisis occurred when the club failed to secure a win in five consecutive outings.

Hence, a majority of the fanbase are back to criticising players like before. After all, praises and taunts are just part and parcel of the Championship. In Wrexham’s case, the fans are blaming one star player for his unimpressive outing against Leicester City.
Wrexham fans blame Kieffer Moore for 1-1 Leicester City draw
Cutting short the suspense, it’s Wrexham star striker Kieffer Moore. Usually, the fans have only good things to say about the Welshman for his goalscoring return but at Leicester, the home crowd were disappointed with Moore’s performance.
One fan said: “Moore was done at 75. Smith and Broadhead on at that moment. Oh well.”
That’s an honest thought, considering Moore didn’t cause any problems to the Foxes backline as he is known for doing. He tested the Leicester City keeper with a few weak shots and later, got in a good position to strike a late 2-1 header but directed his shot quite wide of target.
Otherwise, Moore’s linkup play left a lot to be desired. Sam Smith atleast holds the ball well to then exchange quick passes with Ollie Rathbone and other attackers. Moore failed in that aspect upon making his first start for Wrexham in 2026.

Fans were also annoyed with Moore’s workrate as compared to what Sam Smith offers. One fan put it out: “Moore is lazy and just strolls around, and there is no way he should have let their player be unmarked goalside of him for their goal. Sam Smith on the other hand puts a shift in every time he is on the pitch.”
For strikers, it’s a bit unfair to rank them based on their defensive work. Still, Moore can’t remain still and allow the rivals defender to put one loose chance in the back of the net. That’s an unforgivable act.
Even Phil Parkinson needs to look into the mirror for how casually he took this Leicester City home game for granted. Making only 2 substitutions in an era where 5 are allowed is equal to playing with fire at Championship level.
Moore should have been taken off for Sam Smith, George Dobson should have been brought to replace Ben Sheaf’s tired legs in midfield. These 2 changes would have added more energy to Wrexham in the closing stages of the game, and perhaps the scoreline could have stayed 1-0.
Wrexham fans are making this point loud and clear for Phil Parkinson. A third fan added, saying: “Poor use of subs. One of Parkys biggest failings at times.”
Now, Parky has more pressure on him to get things right away to QPR, and make-up for these awful Norwich and Leicester evenings. Will Wrexham pack a win on Saturday afternoon, let’s see.
