‘Three or Four’ – Wrexham fans will love Nathan Jones furious rant after 1-0 defeat

Wrexham fans will thoroughly enjoy Charlton boss Nathan Jones’ frustrated rant after his side’s 0-1 defeat to Wrexham at the Valley.

With another away win on the board, Wrexham fans now have ample time to reflect. Given that the FA Cup tie against Chelsea is still some way off, the faithful will savour the latest Charlton victory without rushing ahead.

That includes revisiting the Charlton clash at least a couple more times before Wrexham resume their promotion push next week. If the break from league action feels lengthy, fans have plenty from the post-game drama of the Charlton win to keep them entertained.

Recently, Wrexham fans thoroughly enjoyed the club admin’s cheeky jab at Charlton boss Nathan Jones. Now, the faithful turn their attention to the manager’s post‑defeat rant after his loss to Wrexham at The Valley.

In his media address, Nathan Jones looked visibly frustrated with the 0-1 result. Speaking to the BBC, Jones expressed surprise at Charlton’s performance & the final result, saying: “The level of performance was outstanding, but how we haven’t scored three or four, I don’t know.”

Nathan Jones’ words reflect his Wrexham frustration

With their recent 1‑0 victory, Wrexham have now recorded three wins over Charlton in the last 10 months. That includes a victory in last year’s League One promotion decider and a league double this season, during which they’ve kept Nathan Jones’s Charlton side scoreless every time.

Likely, the opposition manager’s frustration stems from the fact that the latest clash was Charlton’s best shot at defeating Wrexham since his infamous “circus” comment.

Unlike the previous occasions, Charlton did appreciably well in overpowering Wrexham. Leading the contest in chance creation and shots taken, the Addicks came close on multiple opportunities to hurt Wrexham.

However, thanks to solid box defending from Wrexham and below‑par finishing from Charlton, the Addicks managed only a single shot on target in the 90 minutes. In the end, Charlton lost the contest despite appearing to be the better side overall.

The fact that Wrexham’s admin followed up this stinging defeat for Nathan Jones with a cheeky jab may have added to the manager’s frustration. Though his side was the deserving winner in his view, it still wasn’t enough to beat Wrexham.

Will Wrexham & Nathan Jones’ rivalry come to a brutal finish?

Not to forget, Wrexham’s inaugural win against Charlton this season surprised many Championship fans. And rightly so, given a 13th-placed Wrexham defeated playoff zone sitting Charlton in a close 1-0 contest.

Fast forward to some time later, and that single defeat derailed Charlton’s promotion charge completely. That’s because the loss against Wrexham paved the way for a dreadful run for the Addicks ahead.

After facing Wrexham in matchday 15, the Nathan Jones-led Charlton side lost 5 games on the bounce. This included humiliating scorelines in a 5-1 defeat to Southampton, a 3-0 defeat to Stoke and a 3-1 loss to Portsmouth & Coventry, apart from a 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough.

Considering that Wrexham has repeated the 1-0 script on Charlton, they may undergo another poor run amidst a challenging schedule ahead.

Should that happen, Charlton Athletic could find themselves fighting relegation in the final weeks of the season. Even as a faint possibility, this could lead to the club parting ways with Nathan Jones come the end of the campaign.

With Wrexham charging toward a historic promotion and Charlton seemingly moving on from Nathan Jones, this could be the final chapter in the Reds’ rivalry with the manager.

Since his infamous “circus” comment, Jones has been made to eat his words time and again. Will this rivalry end this way? Time will tell.
