Wrexham flop Conor Coady wins Charlton Athletic hearts with 7-word reply

Conor Coady

Wrexham flop Conor Coady is winning Charlton Athletic hearts with his motivating 7-word reply about the remainder of the Championship season.

Loaning out Conor Coady is one of the best decisions Wrexham have made during this January transfer window. The Reds were already warned against bringing Coady in all the way back in July but the club paid no attention to those fears. Very soon, Wrexham realised their £2m mistake and offloaded Coady on temporary basis at the very first opportunity.

Trying to recoup even a portion of that transfer fee seems to be a pipe dream for Phil Parkinson’s men. Still, if early signs are to be considered then they are much better than expected. Every Reds fan knows that Coady has only seen limited game time in recent years, then be it the Premier League or the Championship.

Further, the Addicks have the danger of Championship relegation looming over them. Hence, any slip-up from Coady can pose a threat to Charlton’s second tier status. As such, his Charlton Athletic loan has got all the makings of another flop transfer.

Despite that, the 32-year-old is winning hearts among the Charlton Athletic fanbase right from the start.

While facing the camera as a Charlton Athletic loanee, Conor Coady was visibly overjoyed. It’s understandable for new signings, but Coady’s positivity about the remaining season in general was over the roof. Every word he spoke helped him win over his new Charlton fans, especially a motivating 7-word reply.

Upon assessing the Addicks current campaign, Coady spoke to Charlton Athletic: “And it’s a time in the season where you can reflect on what’s gone in the first half, but really attack the second half of the season.”

This part about improving things in the 18 leftover fixtures is getting massively appreciated. One Charlton fan praises Coady for this, saying: “Exactly right Conor, well said. We’ve got to attack the season and try to start winning games.”

How much can the centre-back actually do for them, remains to be seen. But if being a fan favourite was the task, then Coady has set the record straight. Another Addicks fan publicly backed him, adding: “Really positive, speaks well and wants to be here. Good luck Conor, get us fighting and the fans will be right behind you.”

Charlton Athletic fans praise Conor Coady’s leadership

In case of Wrexham, fans longed to praise Coady as the club’s new defensive general after fan favourite centre-back Eoghan O’Connell. 5 games in, and all those hopes faded amongst the Reds fanbase. Keeping that in mind, Charlton Athletic fans are still optimistic about the former Three Lions star leading their backline.

A third fan said: “You can instantly see how he will rally the team, talk sense at half time, command the box, keep everyone battling.. great!” Another fan described the Conor Coady recruitment as unbelievable. He summed up, saying: “In fact this is unbelievable signing now listening to him Speak.”

All in all, Coady has made a bright start off the pitch at Charlton. On the pitch, he is set to be in action against his former employers Leicester City today evening. Neither Coady nor the Foxes have hit the heights in the Championship first half as they did 2 years ago.

A win will suit both parties. Should Coady be the one standing on the good side of the result, his Charlton Athletic fans would get more reasons to be behind their winter signing.
