Wrexham player ratings from a statement 5-3 Ipswich Town demolition at the Racecourse in the 33rd Championship matchday.
Wrexham’s playoffs charge is in safe hands following the 5-3 Ipswich Town demolition at home. At long last, the Reds finally looked dominating in the Championship for the first time since they brushed aside Sheffield Wednesday in the 1-0 away win.
Although Phil Parkinson’s men took care of business in the second half, the first half was a brilliant big game display. Apart from the Arthur Okonkwo and Max Cleworth errors, of course. Josh Windass netted again vs Ipswich Town and Kieffer Moore also found his scoring boots he was missing ever since the 5-3 Sheffield United thrashing.
Seems like Moore loves huge scoring Wrexham nights. He bagged a much deserving Man of the Match award following the final whistle but that’s not to say the other players didn’t stood out. That said, below are the Wrexham player ratings of every Reds player on a scale of 10 from the 5-3 Ipswich Town statement win.
Wrexham player ratings from 5-3 Ipswich Town demolition
GK: Arthur Okonkwo – 5
Fumbled an easy pass on the first goal and didn’t even try to go down and prevent the second, although the error wasn’t down to him. Okonkwo’s reflexes were better on the third goal but Kipre’s shot was too good for him to parry away.
CB: Callum Doyle – 9
Slipped while making a last-ditch effort to clear the ball on the first Ipswich Town goal. Latched onto a couple of free headers, missed a brilliant chance to make it 3-1 but responded well to head it past Christian Walton and into the back of the net for the 4-3.

Doyle was also pulled down inside the penalty area but the referee didn’t deem it sufficient contact to award a Wrexham spot-kick. Despite that, Phil Parkinson will be relieved the 22-year-old didn’t pick up an injury in the process.
CB: Dom Hyam – 7
Cleworth’s odd positioning left him helpless on the second goal. Rest, Hyam was reliable in clearing attacks inside the box and was a good presence on corners.
CB: Max Cleworth – 5
Wrexham fans have praised Max Cleworth for large parts of the season but he has disappointed everyone in the last few weeks. Didn’t attempt blocks on a bunch of dangerous Ipswich Town chances and was at fault for leaving Ivan Azon unmarked on the 2-2 goal.
LWB: George Thomason – 8
Thomason’s chemistry with Kieffer Moore and Josh Windass during transitions was brilliant to see. Came closer to contributing with goals in the first half. Got his wish fulfilled with the 3-3 equaliser, which was a replica of the near-post strike that got saved a few minutes prior to it.
CM: Lewis O’Brien – 8
Exchanged timely passes with Lewis O’Brien and George Dobson, and orchestrated the Wrexham attack in general. O’Brien is in contention for the Reds best player in February and two late assists to seal the 5-3 win will definitely help his case.
CM: Ben Sheaf – 6
A few good passes came off Ben Sheaf’s boots before he limped off with an injury.
RWB: Issa Kabore – 6
Made regular overlapping runs from the right but never felt like creating any decent chance. Defensively, Kabore was just as poor as right-sided centre-back Max Cleworth.
CAM: Ollie Rathbone – 6
Cedric Kipre and Leif Davis didn’t let Rathbone take any meaningful hit from distance here. Instead, he switched to taking corners and almost assisted Callum Doyle in the first half only for the defender to mistime his header.

CAM: Josh Windass – 9
Guided his header in the path of Kieffer Moore to assist the 1-0 goal. Later, made a pretty calm headed finish to beat 2 defenders guarding the open net for his 2-1 strike. Switched positions to the left side as the game wore on and kept finding Lewis O’Brien and George Thomason in the final third.
ST: Kieffer Moore – 10
Got on the scoresheet for Wrexham after 2 months when a significant section of the fanbase had given up on him. Surprised the Ipswich Town keeper with a top-corner finish and afterwards, showed good decision-making to set up Windass amidst a couple of deflected efforts.
Moore could have gotten a first half brace as well, but the Welshman couldn’t poke Thomason’s delivery past the keeper.
Substitutes:
CM: George Dobson – 6
Dobson was good with the ball while creating plays but his lack of pace haunted Wrexham in the first half. Also, Dobson tried his level best to prevent a third one but somehow, his poor clearance was met by Cedric Kipre who didn’t miss his curling shot.
CB: Zak Vyner – 6
Came in the defensive midfield role, but his first Wrexham through ball fell into no man’s land. Ten seconds later, the Reds capitalised on a sloppy Ipswich Town giveaway to net the fifth goal of the evening.
RWB: Ryan Longman – 7
Teamed up with Max Cleworth on the right side to prevent Ipswich Town from exploiting more gaps down that flank.
CAM: Nathan Broadhead – 8
Wrexham’s record £7.5m signing from Ipswich Town scoring the 5-3 against Ipswich Town was quite the climax. Got on the end of a 1v1 chance fed by Lewis O’Brien and unleashed a calm and composed bottom-corner finish. Then, celebrated so enthusiastically with the home crowd as if he never played for Ipswich Town before.
