Wrexham predicted lineup vs Hull City in the Championship. Who will replace George Dobson in Wrexham’s midfield after his 3 match suspension?
The FA Cup Chelsea defeat didn’t end in humiliation for Wrexham but it has certainly taken the toll on the Reds. First up, the three late Chelsea goals left a bad taste among fans hoping for a generational FA Cup run this time around. Secondly, it was as exhausting as it could be.
Phil Parkinson’s men were already running thin in midfield and defence ahead of facing Chelsea. Add 120 minutes of gruelling action to it, and now the Reds have to survive the 4 games in 11 days run without George Dobson too. The 28-year-old midfield pivot was an injury doubt for the FA Cup night but he played through it and started again.
George Dobson will be unavailable against Hull City
Everything was going well for Dobson, he was winning interceptions, flying into tackles but one rushed foul earned him a 90th minute sent off. Consequently, Dobson has been slapped with a three game suspension both due to a direct red and the fact that Wrexham were eliminated from the FA Cup the same round itself.
Doing the math, Wrexham have to deal with Dobson’s unavailability against Hull City, Swansea City and Watford. Tonight’s visitors Hull are the best placed side among these three teams as things stand. Unfortunately, they are also the first opponents Wrexham need to face without George Dobson and Ben Sheaf in this Championship campaign.

Saying the Wrexham vs Hull City clash is a tough challenge would be an understatement. Wrexham need to field makeshift midfielders to stand any chance against the Tigers. Slim chances, but the hopes of winning atleast one point tonight isn’t lost.
That said, below is the Wrexham predicted lineup boss Phil Parkinson can turn to in order to avoid a second league defeat at the hands of Hull City.
Wrexham predicted lineup vs Hull City
GK: Arthur Okonkwo
Okonkwo conceded an own goal against Chelsea that brought the Blues back in the FA Cup tie at 1-1. It’s not everyday he makes mistakes in goal, but a performance like the Charlton Athletic finger-tip save will be much desirable tonight.
CB: Callum Doyle
Safe to say, Callum Doyle has been the defensive X-factor behind Wrexham’s brilliant 2026 form. With each passing day, Doyle is getting more comfortable with creating chances and scoring goals. A third Wrexham league goal, and fourth overall, vs Hull City tonight will be the icing on the cake.
CB: Dom Hyam
Dom Hyam often holds Wrexham’s defensive shape intact no matter how bigger the opposition is. After strong showings against Ipswich Town and Chelsea, today, his task will be to shut down Hull City’s in-form striker Ollie McBurnie.
CB: Max Cleworth
Cleworth is the only weaklink in the back three right now. If not for the flurry of midfield injuries and Dobson’s suspension, Vyner would have probably replaced Cleworth by now. Hopefully, the young defender remains error-free here.
LWB: George Thomason
Thomason has operated as a left-sided midfielder in recent weeks against Charlton Athletic and Chelsea. Whether Parkinson deploys him as a supporting midfielder or reverts him back to the left wingback role, remains to be seen.

CM: Lewis O’Brien
No Matty James, no Dobson and no Sheaf means Lewis O’Brien will be Wrexham’s best player in the middle of the park. It was good Parky rested him at Chelsea in view of tonight’s important top 6 showdown against Hull City.
CM: Zak Vyner
Zak Vyner clocked his first Wrexham start in front of Chelsea. He was given the defensive midfielder’s role there, which is where he can be expected again at Hull City.
RWB: Ryan Longman
Issa Kabore has had ten days of rest since playing in the 1-0 Charlton win. If he’s completely fit, only then should Kabore start. Otherwise, Ryan Longman should be the clear-cut choice as the right wingback.
CAM: Ollie Rathbone
Ollie Rathbone was taken off at the hour mark on the weekend, where he was downright poor. Didn’t get involved in many attacks. Still, he has shown enough reliability in the front three that Parkinson won’t even think of dropping him for the Hull City match.
CAM: Josh Windass
Despite his healthy scoring form, Josh Windass has played as a late substitute in both league as well as the Carabao Cup game against Hull City this season. Broadhead is also not 100% fit at the moment, meaning Windass is more than likely to play the full 90 minutes here.
His dad Dean Windass is a legend at Hull City, and who knows the 32-year-old possibly netting the winner can be on the cards for tonight.
ST: Sam Smith
Sam Smith again popped up with a crucial 1-0 Wrexham goal against Chelsea, like he has done countless times before. Honestly, Kieffer Moore will be a good choice to rest Sam Smith in this busy schedule but Parkinson shouldn’t ignore Smith’s explosiveness and aerial ability up against a tough Hull City side.
