Wrexham predicted lineup vs Ipswich Town: Josh Windass to start again?

Wrexham predicted lineup vs Ipswich Town. Will Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson start Josh Windass again vs Ipswich Town?

One of the most striking part about Wrexham’s 2025/26 season is that the Reds don’t know their strongest playing eleven. Even without injuries, boss Phil Parkinson prefers having 17-18 ready to start players and then cherry picks a playing eleven out of them.

Against Ipswich Town in the FA Cup, Parkinson got many player picks correct that helped Wrexham earn a 1-0 win and a Chelsea FA Cup draw as a result. But was it necessary to experiment with that lineup again? Certainly, not.

Both the scorer Josh Windass and the assister Ryan Longman were booted out of the Bristol City playing eleven for no reason. Although Wrexham still bagged two goals at Bristol City, not everything was perfect in any department. Thus, Parky has a massive job on his shoulders to avoid leaving any weak link on paper against Ipswich Town.

Otherwise, the Reds might slip below top 10 while trying to claw back to the top 6 playoffs places. Yes, that is very much possible in the 33rd Championship matchday. That said, below is the Wrexham predicted lineup vs Ipswich Town that can earn atleast a point for the Red Dragons if not three.

Wrexham predicted lineup vs Ipswich Town

GK: Arthur Okonkwo

Arthur Okonkwo had very less work to do in the FA Cup win over Ipswich Town. At Bristol City, Okonkwo was quite poor with his reflexes as he was beaten to a near post finish and an incredible volley that found the middle of the net. Needs to do better this afternoon.

CB: Callum Doyle

Less chances come from Doyle’s defensive end and more often than not, he remains flawless at the back. Should be retained in the Wrexham back three for Ipswich Town.

CB: Dominic Hyam

If not for the Ipswich Town meeting, a third game in 8 days will have been enough for Phil Parkinson to rest Hyam. Still, Zak Vyner is expected to be called on late in the game should Hyam and the defence show signs of fatigue.

CB: Max Cleworth

Cleworth and Doyle’s attacking contribution has hit back-to-back lows in the last week. The duo was mainly restricted to making clearances, which should change vs Ipswich Town else Wrexham will have difficulties creating chances at the other end.

LWB: George Thomason

Liberato Cacace wasn’t involved at Bristol City at all. That says George Thomason is almost guaranteed to start at left wing back unless Parkinson pulls a surprise and deploys Zak Vyner as a fullback.

CM: Lewis O’Brien

Lewis O’Brien is playing the central playmaker role to perfection nowadays. He covers the ground while defending, picks up counter attacks and often crashes into the box in search of a scoring opportunity.

CM: Ben Sheaf

George Dobson’s weak Bristol City finish annoyed a lot of Wrexham fans in midweek. Rest, Dobson worked hard as a substitute pivot but Ben Sheaf was the starter there also, and there is no need to drop him.

RWB: Ryan Longman

Kieran McKenna and Ipswich Town will come prepared to face Issa Kabore on the right flank. There’s no doubt in that. However, Wrexham can surprise them by going back to Ryan Longman whose crosses destabilized the Ipswich Town defence in the first half of the FA Cup showdown.

CAM: Ollie Rathbone

Picked the deflected Callum Doyle cross well to fire the 1-0 goal at Bristol City. Ollie Rathbone also appeared in fine touch in the FA Cup and his long-rangers can make the difference again.

CAM: Josh Windass

Nathan Broadhead has switched away from being explosive as a second striker to focus mainly on Wrexham’s build up. That slows down the attack and makes the front three more predictable as the game goes on.

For that reason, it’s wise to turn to Josh Windass who delivered an FA Cup masterclass in the 1-0 Ipswich Town win.

ST: Sam Smith

After not scoring in two starts, it’s a difficult toss up between Kieffer Moore and Sam Smith. Still, for Smith’s versatility to both play as a targetman and burst into spaces he should be the one leading Wrexham’s front three vs Ipswich Town.
