Wrexham predicted to smash Hull City despite 3 midfield absences

Wrexham has been handed a favourable prediction to smash Hull City 3-1 at the Racecourse in matchday 36.

After a resilient performance in the FA Cup loss to Chelsea, Wrexham next hosts Hull City at the Racecourse. If the 2-4 defeat denied the Reds their deepest Cup run in decades, the upcoming Championship clash presents another massive opportunity to rewrite history.

A historic fourth consecutive promotion remains the ultimate dream for Wrexham. Their next league contest against Hull offers a key chance to leapfrog the Tigers and solidify their playoff hopes.

Currently, Hull and Wrexham lie in 5th and 6th place in the Championship standings with 60 and 57 points, respectively. However, Wrexham boast a better goal difference and holds a game in hand compared to Hull City.

If Wrexham beat the Tigers in an effective six-pointer, they climb the standings and keep their game in hand. On the other hand, a slip-up would severely impact their promotion push by extending the gap to Hull City and allowing other playoff contenders to close the gap to them.

A matchday against a top-6 promotion favourite side is always far from easy. However, Wrexham fans are in for a pleasant update as they’ve been handed a favourable prediction for the upcoming Hull game.

According to the 44’s Supercomputer predictions, Wrexham will smash Hull City at home with a 3-1 scoreline. This is a dream forecast for fans, especially after the previous 0-2 defeat to the Tigers this season.

Wrexham given Championship prediction to smash Hull City

Considering the Championship standings, a 3-1 forecast in Wrexham’s favour comes a bit harsh on Hull. But a glance at both their recent form makes the forecast far less surprising.

While Wrexham spent the last week competing in the FA Cup, Hull City lost 1-3 at home to Millwall. This takes their count to 4 defeats in their last 6 outings in the Championship.

Though Hull’s poor form is due to facing other promotion favourites like Ipswich and Millwall, the Tigers have also failed to dominate mid-table sides. Their defeats to Bristol City and QPR highlight their subpar form of late.

On the other side, Wrexham enter the match brimming with confidence. While the home support plays in their favour, a brilliant Championship streak of three consecutive wins, along with a gritty performance against Chelsea, is a testament to their current form.

Notably, the same Chelsea side that struggled against Wrexham had put four goals past Hull City in the FA Cup last month. This came after Chelsea forward Pedro Neto scored a hat-trick to knock Hull out of the FA Cup in the fourth round.

Talking of Cup competitions, Wrexham also enjoyed a direct upper hand on Hull this season. The Reds defeated the Tigers 8-6 on penalties in the 1st round of the EFL Cup last in August 2025.

Even more than the result, the way Wrexham fought their way back into the Cup knockout will boost their confidence ahead of the upcoming matchday. While Wrexham were trailing 3-1 to Hull City until the 90th minute, a cameo from club hero Ollie Palmer saved the day.

In what turned out to be Palmer’s final act for Wrexham, the forward scored two headers within two minutes to bring Wrexham level. As the game proceeded to extra time and then penalties, Wrexham pulled off a win from a position where they seemed done and dusted.

Wrexham need to rewrite history to make 3-1 forecast true

While Wrexham’s recent form has them poised for revenge for their last league defeat to Hull, the Reds need to rewrite history to do so. That’s because Wrexham have never beaten the Tigers in a league game in their history.

Wrexham’s only wins over Hull have come via penalty shootouts in Cup games. The Reds’ record against Hull hasn’t been to their standards in league games, as they still await their first win despite multiple meetings.

Not only does this make the upcoming contest more exciting, it also makes a win far more challenging for Wrexham. This is especially considering their long injury list for the Hull City clash.

While Hull misses Matt Crooks for the anticipated matchday, Wrexham miss the services of three mainstay midfielders in George Dobson, Ben Sheaf and Matty James.

Though Sheaf and Matty were already injured, Dobson’s red card suspension creates further problems for Wrexham. Considering Phil Parkinson’s reliance on his midfielders in a 3-4-3 system, Wrexham will be severely weakened as they face a top-six Hull side.

This sets up for an exciting battle at the Racecourse when Wrexham faces off against Hull in a promotion 6-pointer. Let’s see if the hosts can back themselves for a win here.
