Wrexham confirm US Preseason tour with triple Premier League showdown against Liverpool, Leeds United and Sunderland.
With merely 48 hours remaining in Wrexham Vs Chelsea, the FA Cup clash is on every supporter’s lips right now. But along with the excitement of the upcoming home contest comes a unique performance pressure for fans.
Since the 1996/97 campaign, Wrexham have yet to make it to the 6th round of the FA Cup or beyond. While it would require a major Cupset for the Reds to knock out Chelsea, fans and players know this is the club’s best shot at embarking on a deep Cup run in decades.
Needless to say, pressure is mounting at the Racecourse. Though the downside isn’t grave, there’s a lot to play for in the FA Cup tie.
Amid the countdown to the Chelsea clash, Wrexham have offered fans a welcome distraction with a surprise announcement. This comes after the Reds finalise their Preseason plans for another tour in the United States.
According to the club’s official website, Wrexham will be a part of the Summer Soccer series 2026. The 4-team tour oversees Wrexham against three Premier League clubs, Liverpool, Leeds and Sunderland.
The schedule for Wrexham’s games is as follows:
25th July – Wrexham Vs Leeds
29th July – Wrexham Vs Liverpool
2nd August – Wrexham Vs Sunderland
Wrexham schedule triple Premier League showdowns
The discussion of a Premier League friendly had been doing the rounds at Wrexham for quite some time. Even when the Reds’ plan faced a setback after the failure to secure a Newcastle friendly, hopes were still alive.
That’s because Wrexham have been in talks with clubs like Liverpool & Manchester United for a summer friendly for months.
What’s changed is that back then, Wrexham fans would’ve thought of facing one or two PL sides at max. Here, the club has dropped a major surprise for the supporters by featuring in the Summer Soccer Series 2026.
As part of this tour, Wrexham will take on Leeds United, Liverpool & Sunderland in order, in the US. Though Wrexham missed out on scheduling a tie against Newcastle, they’re in for a memorable friendly against Magpies’ derby rivals, Sunderland, to conclude the US tour.

Now, PL friendlies in the States aren’t new for the Wrexham faithful. But what differentiates this summer celebration from the previous ones is the quantity and quality of opponents this time around.
Before 2026, Wrexham had twice faced two Premier League sides in 2023 and 2024. This summer, it’s a triple PL showdown with all these friendlies being properly nitpicked.
If one notices, Wrexham begin the Summer Soccer Series against defending Championship winners, Leeds United. The club then faces off with defending Premier League Champions, Liverpool, before locking horns with defending Wembley promotion winners, Sunderland.
While these sides won’t be entering the summer with these defending statuses next to their name, such premier showdowns ought to be a perfect celebration for fans ahead of the next campaign.
Preseason announcement derails Man United friendly plan
Based on Wrexham’s preseason schedule as confirmed so far, the Reds play Wisła Kraków on the 11th of July in Poland before heading to the USA for the Summer Soccer Series. While the schedule seems complete and exciting in itself, it rules out a friendly against Man United.
Before the confirmation of the US Preseason tour, a summer clash against Man United felt like a likely option for Wrexham. With the two sides in talks over a friendly in Finland, the region’s geographical proximity to Poland could have allowed for a Scandinavian Preseason campaign.
Now that Wrexham head to the USA for the 3rd time since the takeover, a friendly against the Red Devils seems unlikely. While confirmation is yet to arrive, the plan could be dropped for this summer.
That’s because Preseason serves as a preparation measure ahead of a gruelling season schedule. Instead of bulking up an extensive friendly cycle, it needs to be on a lighter note to serve its actual purpose.
With just two weeks between Wrexham’s tour of Poland for a friendly with Wisła Kraków and then off to the USA for the friendly series, a proposal for another friendly is unlikely. The Reds already have four confirmed friendlies under their belt, and may prefer not to play more games.
Being aware of how the 2025 Australia & New Zealand tour ended with a crucial injury to Ollie Rathbone, among fitness concerns to other forwards, Wrexham wouldn’t want to overdo Preseason preparations this time.
At present, a friendly with Man United seems shelved. Of course, that could change if Wrexham earn a Premier League promotion this summer and face the Red Devils in the league instead.
