Wrexham are interested in signing UEFA Champions League star forward Kasper Høgh on a permanent move in the winter transfer window.
The UCL league phase recently ended with a blockbuster matchday. With Benfica getting the better of Real Madrid & Bodø outclassing Atletico, the biggest stage of European football again proved its competitiveness.
While Wrexham are jumping between the English tiers for fun, there’s time until they reach the UCL. Until then, the club’s ambitions don’t hold them back from plucking a leaf from the competition to their own benefit.
Spelling it out plainly, Wrexham are interested in signing Bodø’s in-form striker, Kasper Høgh. Football League World confirmed the update, quoting: “The battle for Bodø/Glimt striker Kasper Høgh has taken another twist, as Football League World understands that both Wrexham and Ipswich Town have joined the battle for the prolific Danish striker”
Notably, Kasper Høgh has been in contention for a Championship move for quite some time now. With Norwich being his long-time suitors, the club has even submitted a £7 million transfer bid for him.
However, Kasper Høgh’s recent masterclass performances against Man City and Atletico Madrid have spiked his market valuation again. Here’s where Wrexham join in the transfer race, with the club hoping to bring him in this January.
Kasper Høgh’s numbers speak for his quality
Arguably, Kasper Høgh has been the biggest name discussed in the Championship market this winter. And rightly so, for how his European performances have caught numerous clubs’ attention to strengthen their promotion charge.
With an early half-hour brace in the win against Man City, and the winning goal against Atletico, Kasper Høgh has been sensational recently. That’s not forgetting his assist against Juventus, which makes all his 4 goal contributions come against quality sides.

This UCL campaign has boosted Høgh’s reputation many times, but his numbers have been exceptional for a long time now.
To note, Høgh had emerged as the joint-highest Europa League scorer with 7 goals last season. Having shared the accolade with Man United star Bruno Fernandes and Olympiacos’ El Kaabi, his European pedigree is well-known.
The 25-year-old’s numbers just improve when taking into consideration his overall Bodø track record. With 55 goal contributions in 83 games, Kasper Høgh can be a Championship cheatcode for which club he signs for.
Can Kasper Høgh become the Championship record signing?
In a market that has seen Wrexham willing to take a long-term £19m bet on rising talent Sidiki Cherif, Høgh’s UCL pedigree definitely makes him worthy of the record.
So far, Birmingham City’s recent signing, Carlos Vicente, has been the biggest spend of the January window. If Kasper Høgh makes up his mind on a move, he can beat Vicente’s transfer fee for the most expensive signing by a mile.
As to why Kasper Høgh may choose Championship football over the UCL is quite simple. First and foremost, Champions League matchdays aren’t played very often. While this adds to the prestige of the competition, Høgh is likely to fancy his way for a better UCL run long-term by joining a promotion favourite side.
If he goes up to the Premier League with Wrexham or Ipswich, Høgh will be playing in the biggest league for the complete season. A 38-game spell in the PL is already a considerable choice against UCL, let alone at an ambitious club like Wrexham.
Having recorded 3 consecutive promotions and on route for the 4th one, UCL football is a realistic possibility for Wrexham in the future. Even apart from the sporting reasons, the financial firepower strengthens the Reds’ case.
Yet to make a January signing, Wrexham are favourites to land Høgh’s deal over Ipswich by a lucrative transfer fee. Their better promotion hopes advance their case above Norwich, positioning them in a competitive stance for Høgh’s highly anticipated transfer.
