Wrexham vs Liverpool preseason rumours are back again for the Reds 2026 preseason schedule. Two years after the missed 2024 showdown, Wrexham vs Liverpool could finally be on the cards.
Every year, summer season is arguably the best period for Wrexham fans. The Reds have developed a winning habit of grabbing promotions to start the summer. That gets followed by high-profile preseason friendlies and a thrilling summer transfer window to kickstart the new campaign ahead.
As always, getting promotion will again be a tough climb for Wrexham. The playoff places are well within grasp right now, but that doesn’t mean Phil Parkinson’s men can afford to lose focus in the Championship. As for preseason friendlies, there have been enough noises from the outside which can go either way in the future.
Wrexham 2026 preseason schedule
A couple of weeks ago, Wrexham announced the first of multiple preseason games ahead of the 2026/27 season. The Reds set an away date against Poland’s second tier outfit Wisla Krakow which falls on the eve of the Polish side’s 120th anniversary. Hands down, that’s a classy gesture from Wrexham.

But the fanbase always demands a couple of bling-bling clashes to spice up the preseason schedule. So far, Michael Carrick’s resurgent Manchester United are in the mix to rub shoulders with Wrexham in preseason. During December, there were enough gossips on this showdown to keep the Reds supporters on their feet already.
However, nothing is set in stone so far regarding whether the Wrexham vs Manchester United clash will go through in the first place. If it happens, good. If it doesn’t, the Reds have another plan up their sleeves to challenge a Premier League heavyweight on a similar level as the Red Devils.
Wrexham vs Liverpool preseason rumours are back
Liverpool are the only English outfit to boast of 20 top-flight titles as Manchester United. Going by a Daily Mail report, Arne Slot’s defending Premier League Champions are mulling on the idea of locking horns against Wrexham as preparation for their 2026/27 campaign.

Playing an elite team like Liverpool will interest Wrexham, there’s no denying that. At the same time, the Red Dragons fans shouldn’t get too high on their excitement levels because history hasn’t been kind to a Wrexham vs Liverpool preseason friendly before.
Just two years ago, the Reds had almost ironed out a 2024 preseason friendly with Liverpool who were ushering in their Arne Slot era back then. Meanwhile, Wrexham were League One newcomers having already fixed preseason meetings against the likes of Chelsea and Bournemouth for the upcoming weeks.
All in all, the 2024 preseason schedule was going to be an all-timer from Wrexham only if Liverpool didn’t back out. They were swiftly replaced by non-league side Hanley Town on Wrexham’s sporting calendar. Later, their chairman opened up on the whole saga in a RobRyanRed podcast which left Wrexham fans wondering what might have been alternately.
Will the Wrexham vs Liverpool preseason fixture finally take place at the second time of asking? There are still five months to go until July. Enough to arrange a friendly date, but let’s see.
