Wrexham have identified 29-year-old striker Che Adams as a transfer target days after Phil Parkinson outlined 2026/27 World Cup signing plans.
Days ago, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson talked about the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Parkinson remains hopeful of seeing the best from Dom Hyam for Scotland and most importantly, Liberato Cacace for New Zealand as the latter suffered an injury-ridden Wrexham debut season.
While issuing optimism on Cacace’s recent friendly performance against England in a 1-0 defeat, Parkinson touched upon World Cup 2026 inspired signings. Multiple top clubs across the Premier League and European football constantly remain on the lookout for standout World Cup performers to further strengthen their squads.
This time, Wrexham will also have an eye on good market opportunities surrounding players participating in the ongoing World Cup. As such, the club’s transfer chiefs may have made a good start as far as the recent transfer rumour is concerned.
Wrexham monitor 29-year-old Scotland striker Che Adams
According to a recent TransferFeed report, Wrexham are tipped to explore a summer transfer for Scotland’s 29-year-old striker Che Adams. Adams is currently on World Cup duty for Steve Clarke’s side and leads the line for Serie A club Torino for 2 years now.
Adams has represented the Scottish national team 47 times since his debut in 2021, and scored 13 goals in national colors. At club level, Adams bagged 10 goals and 8 goals for Torino across all competitions in the past two seasons and boasts a vast wealth of Premier League and Championship experience in the past.

Adams rose to prominence for Sheffield United in League One over a decade back, scoring 12 goals in 2015/16 to earn a Birmingham City move. Later, Adams scored goals for fun at Birmingham that included a 22-goal Championship season and forced a £15m Southampton move in 2019.
Over the course of next 5 years, Adams bagged 48 goals at Southampton and fired 15 strikes in the Saints 23/24 Premier League promotion winning campaign. All in all, Adams is a perfect fit to lead Wrexham to the Premier League if boss Phil Parkinson can structure the attack around him.
Where does Che Adams fit at Wrexham if he joins?
The Red Dragons had Kieffer Moore and Sam Smith sharing the bulk of goalscoring loan in 2025/26 with a combined 22 goals among them. Come the end of the season, Moore lost his finishing touch and struggled with injuries while Smith was a threat up top, but lacked support from other forwards.
Looking at Southampton’s 2023/24 Championship season, Che Adams complimented the Saints then-topscorer Adam Armstrong in a 2 striker formation. Adams amassed 15 goals, and laid a further four assists for his teammates. As an added plus, Adams is a traditional No.9 athletic enough like Sam Smith and proven to rack up bigger numbers in Championship.
Having him as a 3rd first team striker with Moore and Smith might delay Bailey Cadamarteri’s starting eleven integration, but it will be vital in the bid to get Wrexham over the line to the Premier League.
In recent days, rival Championship clubs have started making ambitious moves to boost their promotion charge. Wolves have signed Kieran Tripper and Raul Jimenez, West Ham are monitoring last season’s Golden Boot Zan Vipotnik so it makes sense that Wrexham need to turn to proven Championship players to stand a chance.
Depending on how good Che Adams plays for Scotland at the 2026 World Cup, his price can fluctuate around the £5-8m mark. Let’s see if Wrexham can strike a Che Adams deal with Torino or not.
