Ex-Chelsea man gives harsh Wrexham vs West Brom prediction (was wrong in 2-1 win)

Ex-Chelsea man Sam Parkin gives harsh Wrexham vs West Brom prediction. He made a wrong prediction before Wrexham’s 2-1 win against Sheffield United.

Wrexham ended March with a 2-1 away win over Sheffield United. After the international break, the hope remains for Phil Parkinson’s men to repeat a similar result in front of lowly lying West Brom tomorrow. Wrexham players didn’t have the best of international breaks this time around.

Hence, there is a lot of winning momentum to gain and what better than a 20th placed West Brom team? The Baggies have fallen from promotion contenders, to top 10 favourites to relegation fighters within the span of the last nine months. Moreover, Phil Parkinson and co know how good West Brom can be on their day.

Back in August, the Reds fell down to a 3-2 defeat at the Racecourse which could have easily ended in a 5-1 defeat if West Brom were a bit more clinical. Wrexham fans didn’t raise enough eyebrows on that result considering they came to 18th after the 3-2 defeat while West Brom rose to 3rd place.

The 15 place gap between the two sides has been bridged to 13 at the moment, with Wrexham ahead at 7th. If West Brom again managed to inflict a winless result on Wrexham, the fans may demand a lot of explanations. As far as former Chelsea man Sam Parkin’s prediction is concerned, it doesn’t look good for Wrexham.

Ex-Chelsea man gives harsh Wrexham vs West Brom prediction

Needless to say, Sam Parkin has got a wealth of experience in English football under his belt. He started his senior career as a Chelsea academy graduate and later went on to play for Ipswich Town, Millwall and Luton Town among many established EFL sides.

Recently, Parkin collaborated with EFL expert Benjamin Bloom on the latter’s YouTube channel. In his own words, Parkin had this to say about Wrexham’s clash against West Brom: “I’m going to go for them(Wrexham) to get beaten here. Now, they won at Sheffield United. I certainly had that one the other way round. I thought they’d win at Watford.”

It’s easy to see Parkin has gone with West Brom mainly due to their home advantage. Not undermining West Brom’s recent form but Parkin hasn’t got a good track record of predicting Wrexham matches.

As he said, he didn’t fancy Wrexham to beat Sheffield United at the Blades home ground. At half time, many Wrexham fans didn’t either. But the Reds took their limited number of chances well and got the two goals they needed to flip the 0-1 deficit into a 2-1 comeback win.

Wrexham injury boosts before West Brom trip

Injuries are another factor lying in Wrexham’s favour right now. After inconsistent months of February and March where Wrexham always missed key players like Kieffer Moore, Matty James, Liberato Cacace and Ben Sheaf to name a few, things are looking better at the Racecourse.

Moore, James and Cacace might be involved as starters from the upcoming games. Ben Sheaf won’t be back in action immediately unlike them, but his injury recovery has played a lot better than what Wrexham fans feared.

What that means is, the Wrexham bench will be more stronger for tomorrow’s West Brom visit. The Reds have a chance to go 3 points clear over Southampton at sixth with a game played more, which will be a strong start to this Championship run-in. Rest, let’s see whether Sam Parkin’s Wrexham prediction comes true or not at full-time.
